I used to have one of these bras (color was Silver). I purchased it from Ecklers (Southern Car Parts prices are better than Ecklers). Recently, I ordered the good old fashion bra to replace this style bra. Here are the reasons why I chose to go to the old style:
1. The Silver was stained around the inlets (front brake and Z06 screen area) within the first couple of days. Tried to wash it, didn't help.
2. Was caught in the rain with it on and the weight of the water and the speed I was travelling (70mph, on FL Turnpike) stretched the lower part of the bra, so it did not fit as nicely as it did.
3. Rock chips and road debris...small gravel, the bra will protect against. Anything larger and you still have a nick in your paint. Down here in South Florida, there are always a couple of pebbles to the size of rocks bouncing around and smack the front nose. Didn't offer any real protection for me.
4. Finally...after owning the bra for 8 months, 4 of the 6 snaps came off the bra at the same time. That rendered it useless. Checked with the manufacturer to see about what the warranty is (via email) and never heard from them. Went into the trash this past weekend.
Now, my negatives may not be the norm. The guys that I hang out with at the track that have the blue or black have had no issues with stains. I think this bra is great if you are driving to a car show and want something easy on and off. For any type of long distance driving, I'd get the old fashion one. My $ 0.02.
All that said, Southern Car Parts is a great vendor to deal with...have purchased a number of things from them in the past. Keep up the great work & customer service!!

Joe,

I used my mask and mirror covers this weekend for the first time. I travelled to a town approx 45 miles from home to attend a car show. The maks and covers worked great keeping the bugs and debri off my just washed and Zainoed car.

When I reached my destination I just took off the mask and covers and put them away. I reinstalled them before I left. Very easy to do. Great products.

BTW can you get those for other vehicles? I had several people ask me if they were available for other cars. One is a friend who has an 07 Mustang.

Glad you like it.....Not for other cars yet, but may happen in the future. Funny you should ask that as I am getting ready to branch out to Mustangs also...

Thanks,

Default Nose protection

Has anyone ever tried the spray on stuff--not for daily use, but for say, a trip to Las Vegas or Seattle or some summer highway driving?

Wow $144 for a bra that lasted 8 months before hitting the bottom of a trash can. That's tough. Too bad the manufacturer didn't reply back. They probably were as in as much shock as you were

Not sure who the manufacturer was but I am confident it is not the one I am dealing with as the stand behind their products.

Thanks,

Jim

Like QuikZilver, I didn't have the best of luck with my LeMans blue bra. The fit at the top was very loose - the hood did a decent job of holding it in place, but it would flap at highway speeds. But the main reason for moving back to a "traditional" bra was just for the more major things that you occasionally hit on the road, not just the little bits and pieces of sand, etc. I happened to hit a bigger rock that fell off a truck and bounced into my nose, and the force (at 70 mph) actually melted the bra and fused it to the nose for about 3". When I removed the bra it was ruined. A big piece stuck to my car and left a large hole in the bra. No way to repair it, so it went into the trash as well. For lightweight protection it seems fine, but if you run into anything heavier, you not only lose your bra, but the nose as well.

Oh, and I use a Vararam and I did not see any issues with covering the front of the car as it pertained to air flow, etc. The fabric seems to breathe very well.

Who did you buy it from? I have had one on mine for 2 years (on the car only when on trips) and have never had a problem or any symptoms like you both experienced. Wonder if it is the same manufacturer? Let me know as I certainly would like to know.

I have sold over 80 of them this month alone, and so far no complaints or issues.

Let me know where you got it, if you would please.

Thanks,

Jim Vose

Did you know, if you soak a towel in very hot water then lay it on the nose over all the bugs, that in about 10-15 seconds the bugs will wipe off with ease.

This is the fastest and easiest way I know to remove bug guts.

Minor rock chips. Of course none of us want to see a rock chip on our vette but you've got to ask yourself. If your car was for sale (the one you know and cared for so well) and you were the buyer; if it had a few rock chips on the front, would you walk away from the deal? Probably not (i.e. minor chips usually aren't deal breakers; especially if the car has 10,000-20,000+ miles on it).

Also, for minor nicks, isn't easier to buy a little touch up paint. I use it. It works well.

I'm more concerned my windshield will get nicked than the nose of the car.

to bad you can't use it in states with front license plates, unless you are willing to pay the ticket if you get a bozo cop vs understanding one
