I have a couple of questions about the 2004 verts. I have an 07 vert but am thinking about buying my wife an 04 vert. Did the 04 vert come with a power top. What does LeMans edition mean. Finally did it come with a hard top that comes off and on (not the coupe)
Thanks any help is appreciated
Sorry , I cant helpyou there I have a Coupe ...but I think you open the hatch, unlatch the top at the front and fold it into hatch and close it.....but I am not sure ..
It is very easy to work he manual top, but you have to get out of the car to close it and then reach in through the open window to latch it tight. Getting a window valet is a "must have" accessory as it allows you to close the windows without getting back in the car and turning the key on in order to activate the windows.
All you have to do is release the windshield latches and then press a button under the tonneau cover hatch. Lift the hatch, raise the top and guide it into the trunk area and close the tonneau hatch. Take all of 15 seconds if you go slow. The only inconvenience in my opinion is having to get out of the car to close it.
you pop 2 hold downs that are mounted under the sunvisors, reach behind threar edge of the top and lift, reach under the top cover and press the cover release , lower the top into it's bay and close the top - can be done in 1/2 the time your power top goes down - but you've got to get out of the car to lower the top.
there are several after market vendors that sell hard tops to fit vetts but they don't come with the car.
I have an 04 commemorative edition vert and love it. The manual top takes about ten seconds to lower/raise and is a piece of cake. The manual top can be done quicker than the power top, but not as cool as the power top. The manual also saves you money, weight, and space. Lemans blue/shale interior is the color for all CE's.

Thats pretty much it. It was not a option on the C5. Very easy and fast. I can put mine down in less time than a C6 power top. Mark[IMG][/IMG]

Love my CE vert and the manual top is very easy to do. I was even able to handle it in spite of having shoulder surgery last year.
The manual top and the quality of the top itself is excellent. I had a Boxster with a power top which broke and it cost me $1,500. to fix after it bent the metal cover when it malfunctioned. Sometimes I think simpler is better, and the design is great the way it seals to the rear lid without any latches.

Yep! takes about 15 seconds or so, I've put mine up and/or down many times at a stop light quickly enough - a friend has a new '06 vert, with the power top, and it's gotten stuck in the half way position more than once!
There's an aftermarket kit but its mega$$$ and takes up trunk space.
The only thing that annoys me is that the windows automatically roll down when you hit the lid release. Most times the door is open anyway so you then have to put them back up. Oh well at least theres no chance of damaging anything.
Apart from that its just as easy as a power top and less to go wrong.
I couldn't believe how easily my convertible top goes up and down. It's really not that big of a deal once you do it a couple of times. It would be cool to have it automatic but not worth the cost in my opinion.
