We all have stories about a$$holes doing and saying things that we chalk up to jealousy. Some are simply haters that hate everyone and everything. None of it is worth getting shot over. Now I don't want to start another thread about people who carry and all that. I'm just saying be careful, that's all.

BTW - welcome!
They were both wrong, but so were you! It's not worth some teenage punk with a $75 piece of steel ending or changing your life. It takes more of a man to walk or drive away than it does to flex your ego... I hate to say it, but as a former Marine, and 20 year LEO... Just drive off, it's not worth it. I have seen people die over a simple $5 bet...

Only been vandalized 3 times in 6 years with my 2001 - all 3 times at a movie theater. The first two times they just poured large cokes and popcorn all over the car (probably because I always keep it immaculate) - easily fixable - no permanent damage, third time they smashed out my new Crystal Eyes Backup light lenses last November - that ended the movie going experience from now on (not that I didn't enjoy financing a bag of popcorn and a coke).

There is something wrong when you come out of a movie, see your backup lights smashed and just feel "fortunate"! That was the cheapest exterior part they could have broken - almost anything else could have cost thousands to fix and while insurance may pick up most of the bill, I could be out a car for weeks as a result.

eh, a temper is a temper.

a friend of mine got in a tassle when he was driving his beater to work when some guy in a brand new BMW 745 started driving like a maniac and yelling obscenities. basically, at a light my friend pulled out a crow-bar he had in his car and terrorized that guys new BMW.

I wasn't there and I would never do anything like that. I was in shock when I heard about it.

yeah thats crazy..... i have been pretty lucky so far. i have only found gum on my car a few times that someone must have spit on it and sticky residue from a soda or something similar on my hood.

Good thing I didn't see any of it. I am well aware of the gun situation especially in my neighboring city (stockton) but that kind of crap is too much. I can keep my cool most of the time but certain things will make me explode.

I am just shocked that the idea of someone shooting you is so common these days, that is the problem, no respect for others or laws.

I am not a huge guy, but big enough to scare folks, but I think I would just try let these things go. I had a guy pull some wreckless "poop" on me and my wife and kid on I-75 a few weeks ago. I sounded the horn and before I knew it, I was doing everything I could not loose control of my car, because he decided to slam on the brakes in the fast lane and the a$Zhole cut me off on purpose. It is crazy how many number of self-center screwups are out there.

I hear what your sayin though. As a former Marine, i have a good eye for that kind of thing. When my 6'4" 285 lb butt got out of the car, i think that was enough to scare them into not doing it again. Plus the embarassment of getting out of his car with everyone watching and having to clean my window in the turn lane was priceless. I thought he was gonna cry. Anyway, not trying to offend anyone this was just something that happened to me i thought i'd share. By the way, killer website!!! lata!
I'd have done exactly the same thing. I am also a former Marine. Like they say, not as lean and not as mean but still a Marine and I'll be damned if someone is going to spit on me and have me turn the other cheek. I'm not a mean guy but I am not a pacifist (and never will be).

You know, this is what I hate to see these days. The Leos (no offense) say they don't have time to deal with this kind of thing if you do call them. But, they say teh same thing - let it go. Why? This is why it is so common, no one deals with it.

I have let things go many times rather than escalating but if someone spits on me they are going to suffer the consequenses.

Now, if the Leos could or would deal with it, I'd call them every time.

I've been fortunate and never had my car vandalized. I rarely park it where I can't keep an eye on it. If I go out to dinner, to the show, etc., I always take my daily driver. My only misfortune thus far has been dealing with a jealous bird or two, who've managed to poop on it.

It's called "Class envy". We see it everyday in politics.
You work hard to get where you are and the lazy ones feel they have a constitutional right to have what you have without lifting a finger.

Accept it. Doesn't look like things will change in the near future!

I find myself lucky not to have ever caught the vandalism in progress. I fear if I ever do I will do the same or worse then others to the vandals. I have had the hood of my 88 Vert urinated on at a club, I had someone run over the back of it with their feet, I have had someone put empty beer bottles in the seat (my fault for leaving the top down), and I have had someone drive over the hood of it and crack it. With the 00 Vert, I now take into consideration where I take it, park it, and what the crowd will be like. Sad you have to think about all of this before you take your car out. I live in St. Louis, and unfortunately it does seem to be trying to live up to the rating as the most danagerous city in the United States.

I try to stay away from the "college kid" side of town. Invariably, my car will get spit on or I will be taunted in some way for having an expensive car over there. Just chalk it up to being another "Corvette Tax".

If I stay in the western 'burbs, I never have problems. Then I'm just another nice car...nobody even notices it.

Mind blowing.

I can't believe people these days and how they treat other's property, esspecially when they have worked and busted their az$ to get what they have. I can understand someone tormenting a kid that is spoiled rotten and his family bought him something very nice and they rub it in that you are a piece of white trash and you will never own anything nice, because you will never amount to anything, but some of these stories blow me away.

I get harassed at times by the local car club that is prodominantly F-BODY guys, but for the most part it is cool, but I don't instigate (SP?) it, because I had a nice F-BODY and miss it at times.

Yesterday, I saw a brand new black Cadillac Escalade ESV that was keyed from the headlights alll the way back to the tail lights and back again!! The SUV must have been at most, a month or two old because it looked pristine. There are so many jealous people out there with no regard for someone else's property. I never leave my vette on the street unattended and on those rare occasions when I park in a parking lot, its all the way at the end, in a corner spot, where I can lean over as much as I can. I never take up two spots or park in an area that's visible because that's asking for trouble.

Ain't America great? 9/11 did NOTHING to change people in this country. Un-freakin'-believable. Makes me ashamed to be in the same species sometimes. Like the bumper sticker says:

THE MORE PEOPLE I MEET
THE MORE I LIKE MY DOG

Although I understand how you feel, that kind of behavior today can get you killed. You never know what the creeps may be packing. As for me, that's why I don't carry-the temptation of pulling the trigger is too great.

Trust me. Having someone spit or spill something on your car isn't that bad. you can clean it off right away and it will go away. I've had people key my car and punch it leaving dents. It's silly too. Because i've never been cocky about my car nor mean about it. If someone comes up I show them it. Answer questions and if they even ask for a ride I give them one. People are rediclious sometimes.
