"Young Guns" please step in
Hello all,
I've noticed that there are a lot more of us younger corvette owners coming onto the forums and posting more often so I wanted to see if there's interest in setting up a "Young Guns" meet and greet/cruise in for those of us who are under 21. I know there are a lot of events for all corvette owners, but a great deal of those events cater to an older crowd and not us as much. Just a few days in the summer of driving and hanging out down at the National Corvette Museum area or somewhere else if you all have any ideas.
This is not to push out everyone else; just try something that's geared more towards a younger group with more limitations.
If there's anyone interested please chime in.
~John
Just in case you don't read the whole thread here is my reasoning behind age and such. Not a great one, but at least it is one.

An event like this would give us a time to socialize with our peers in a specific bracket, those unable to drink, and have a good time without those influences.
Events from all over the country that I've looked at in the different regions can involve us, but there are trips/events that can't. Trips to the vinyards for wine tasting is one example. What's one event for this age group? I'd say if one person per state could make it (and I know there are more than that that qualify) then it would be a success in my mind.
It's not all about an age thing it's also about the limitations based on age. I should've put that into the first post but didn't think about it.
Sounds like a good idea...but honestly I'm not sure there are THAT many vette owners under the age of 21. Definantly under 25 though. I'm 22 and have a '03 Z06 and would love to meet up with some folks sometime...i'm down in Ga.
so you want to form a teenage "click" like they had in high school and exclude people...... right? Is that how they do it in Nokesville?(where the heck is that anyway?)
I'm an "old guy", and I understand where John's coming from... see no problem with it.
Most of us still see the world through our younger eyes. I know I do. But the truth is, we're generations apart. At times it's healthy for our "kids" to have their own unfettered "space".
I encourage the idea.
I'm sorry, but i don't understand why you'd do that. Yyou've obviously never been to Cruise in... where everybody there acts like they're 18.
I think one of the best experiences with owning my Corvette has been the networking, and the people i've met. I think the older folk are who add a lot of that maturity to the corvette crowd, and i really appreciate that.
I'm 25. So I'm too old for it but even when I was younger I liked to talk and listen to those of older age. They are wiser and they have some great car storys. I don't see a problem with haveing those under 21 get together. Maybe we older peeps need to have our own meet, just for the intelligent
Much rather have the YG's going crazy over our beloved Vettes than rice burners!
Amen, I have forsaken japanese cars after not being satisfied with my VR4, theyre just to complicated for their own good somtimes, they make great sedans and little cars though.

Nokesville is small town outside of Manassas which is outside of DC.

I enjoy listening to them as well, I learn a great deal about cars and the history of them (everything from old bel-airs to current vettes/vipers). There are areas where we have some different ideas of what to do for fun though. Everyone wants to spend time with someone there own age every now and again.
Oh well, just a silly idea by a silly kid. Next time I'll filter it through some wiser people and hope they can keep me from making an *** of myself Again.
this would be a good idea, however i think the age cutoff should be a bit higher than 18. i mean i'll be 22 in march, but dont consider myself all that old...
i know i felt old when i turned 24 but damn, didnt know i was starting to get excluded from the young crowd.
its a good idea to just get together with the younger guys though. A couple of us ages from about 21-35 go out sometimes to the city and we dont come home till the sun comes up a lot of times.
Here might be a better idea. At your local events, im sure they are younger guys that you meet up with and just go from there. ask there if they would want to get together sometime. Your region section is a great place to get things organized as well.
