Default Have selective ride control?

How do you like this option? Is it worthy of having? Can you really tell the difference between the different modes? Anything bad about this option?

I am looking at a car that has this but have never had the option myself. Looking for feedback.

My 99 had F45 Selective Ride Control - Tour / Sport / Performance.
I could tell a big difference. You get smooth ride while cruising along but when you come to nice curves you can flip the switch and stiffen the suspension for better control. Once back on straight road back to smooth ride.

My 03 had the F55 Magnetic Ride Control. Wow - huge difference instantaneously.

I like selectrive ride since most of our driving is cruising with occassional track/curve driving.

I also have this option in 03 and I can definitely tell the difference. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it's a little too soft in the rear end in Touring mode. The back ends tends to bounce a little. Nothing major...

Hmmm...interesting. This is on a 98 coupe. Any service issues like it having issues that require you to have to take it to the dealer?

I have it on my 00. I usually keep it set to "perf", but switch to "tour" to smooth out a rough section of road. It's worked flawlessly in my vert, but it has very low mileage.

I don't know anything about the F45 but, my 03 Coupe has the F55 and there is a definite difference between "Tour" and "Sport" With Tour on it is smooth and in Sport you feel every bump in the road.

I had F45. Switched it to Z06 suspension, then I could tell the difference

What kinda car is that in your avatar. There is a house on my way home that has one that looks just like it out in the yard. Its a gold color, I thought it was a kit. They just park it on the grass outside, so i figured it was not really that important to them.

Sorry to go off your topic.

I have the selective ride control on my 02 and am really liking it so far (only had it a week). My last 2 C5s both had Z51, and the new one in Perf mode feels similar (on the road, not the track).

I find myself driving around in Sport most of the time. Though Tour is quite nice on a longer trip.

I have F45s with Selective Ride Control - Tour,Sport and Performance.

I can honestly say I can see absolutely no difference between settings. I've tried the freeways of NV and the backroads of England. If I had paid for it after market I'd be very disappointed.

I'm told the 03s with Magnetic Selective Ride Control and the newer F55s does make a difference.

I bought my '04 with the F55 option but knowing nothing about it. Now I do and can tell you, of all options on the car it is THE BEST!

I use to race go-karts when I was young. I'll tell ya', the 1st time I switched to 'Sport' mode I thought I was driving a go-kart again. It was fantastic!

If you are making a choice between a vette with it or without it, get the one with it! I promise you you'll be glad you did.

My guess is, if you get the Z51 option, after a long period of ownership you might get tired of the constant stiff ride. With the F55 you can switch the comfort to fit your mood anytime you want. What could be better than having a choice at your fingertips?

I also upgraded to Z06 swaybars to minimize body roll so now the car is really set up nice; selectable suspension and minimal roll in the curves no matter which position the selector is in. Great combo!

I have a 2000 vert with F45 and love it. They changed it to F55 on the 01 model year. I also changed the sways to Hotchkis and it got even better.

There have been several posts about guys that say the F45 is useless and can't tell any difference between the settings. I would tell them to have it checked or serviced because there must be something wrong with it. It was a $1600.00+ option in 2000 You should be able to tell (seat of pants) which mode you are in.

I also have F45 in my 97 and i can feel a huge difference between tour and perf modes however, i dont think they switched it over to F55 in 2001...the change over happened from 2002 (F45) to 2003 (F55)...

You can however "upgrade" an F45 car to an F55 car and i know a few members on this forum who have done so.

The biggest draw back on any of these systems is that the shocks themselves are EXTREMELY expensive to buy new. I have heard quotes for F45 shocks ranging between $400 and $600 PER SHOCK.

Thanks for the Year in which it changed over. I have not had to change the shocks yet, but have heard that they are in that price range. I'm sure that the price of the shocks is in direct relationship to the original price for this option. Even though, I love the option to be able to DILE HER UP! Mark

Our 97 has the F45 suspension with the three settings:

Tour = Semi-harsh

Sport = Harsh

Performance = Rattle your teeth!

My 99 has the F45 and I happen to like it and I have changed the sways to the Z06 and I can tell the difference in Tour and Performance as those are the two settings I use. My front drivers shock is starting to wear out and to pay the $500-$600 for one shock I will not do. Time for me to invest in coil overs when it goes, my car is slammed so it always rides harsh, except on the highways and that is how I like it

If you can't feel a difference I would say there is a problem with the system because there is a noticible difference when working properly.
