Sorry, but Hummers, Lexus, F250s, or anything newer than 10 years old is not a beater in my book. Nice cars I'm sure, but they could be a ride that most people would not mind all year round.
Where are the old Camry's, Saabs, and there must be a K car out there somewhere....
OK, I'm pretty sure my $1,400 94 Saturn SL2 qualifies as a beater. I love the freedom of driving a diposable car on a daily basis that I don't worry about, clean, or even maintain (aside from oil.) If and when it quits I'll go to the classifieds and replace it.

I think it qualifies too.
A bunch of guys at work have real beaters like my volvo. You should see us playing autocross in the parking lot when it snows. My bud with the Saturn wins there, but I have more fun with rear wheel drive. I do win the drag races though, that turbo automatic is pretty quick for an under $1000 car (our cut-off point).
There's nothing like having a car that you can park anywhere - and just not care about who parks next to you.

My buddies '87 IROC winter beater took the cake as far as I was concerned... it was the type of car he walked OVER instead of walking around... LOL. The driver's door was missing the tint, he always joked that he'd try to take the tint off the pass side Window and transfer it to the driver's side so people couldn't see him!
A couple of silver Caddys. A DTS performance pkg and when the driving is really tough (Rochester NY), the wife's SRX sport pkg. They are not beaters, but both are good snow cars
an 03 CLK 500 is my DD, and I have a 94 GMC Sonoma (with 152k miles on it) for my Beater. Although, after this winter I'm planning on tearing it down - rebuilding the suspension, giving it a little lift and maybe an ls1. Why I have no Idea.
Man you guys have some nice rides but alot of you are missing the point of the "beater" part of this thread. I was expecting to see some old jacked up cars and all I see is awesome looking new ones!
Hey Evilness that is a beautiful 350Z. Last time I went to the track a guy had one there that looks vert similiar to yours that had twin turbos and over 500rwhp he claimed. It was definately fast.
Now on to the funny part. Out of all the shops in the US the GEO video you posted was made at RPM in Garner,NC the place that did my cam swap for me and tuned my car. I saw that 1st hand....and it scared the heck out of everybody when it finally BLEW up! It was at their dyno day on 1/20/07.
