You guys are right. They were loud. Every morning when my neighbor would start his car with the cherry bombs, the windows in my house would rattle. Good thing they dont make them for a c5. Straight pipes are loud enough.
I had them on my '66 Chevelle SS 396 after installing a set of headers. The finishing touch was a set ot 'turn-downs" immediately after the cherry bombs. They were COOL until you rode over a dirt road or driveway, then LOOK OUT for the major dust cloud.
In the late 80s, my first car was a 1966 Chevelle. It had a set of cherry bombs on it. I thought they were pretty cool, until I installed a set of turbo mufflers and I could actually here the radio.
This is a joke,...........right??.............come on,.........were kidding ?,.....................right?? when all those camaros had the old "cherry bombs MOST of them were SIX bangers I know some guys right here on the forum that are lucky that they do not get into a lot of trubble cose of noise,.. today you SHOULDNT want that kind of,...eh,....... FAME!!
Its funny I came across this post. I am going with a Cherrybomb system in the next couple of weeks. A good buddy owns a muffler shop and went out to the "Anco" I think facility late last year for a conference and they compared a Cherry bomb system to a Flowmaster on a dyno and the Cherrybomb out performed. He has been using these mufflers for a while and wanted to put a set on my car so I am going for it. They are making a big comeback and seem to be a good product. Looking at them from the outside they are very similar to Flows, but a guess "flow" better
Hey Man! Have you installed that Bassani X-pipe yet?
I just saw a show where the show host were using Cherry Bombs. Cherry Bombs were all the rage in my youth ( only a few years ago ). I thought they went out of business. Is anyone here using them?
Thanks
Dave K
I've seen CB's at several auto parts stores in WI. There isn't much to them. Looking through one at night will give you an unobstructed view of the lunar surface! They are loud under load.
They resonated too much going down the road. Switched to Hush Thrush. Much better. This when I was 19. Turning 50 in a few weeks, and still like the quieter stuff. My Z06 Ti exhaust is just right.
