Yup. I think they have factory re-man units available for sale. Better check early though since the amount on hand at any given time will vary quite a bit.
To me it is better than the escort because it has the arrows. I don't think you are going to be that lucky finding one at a good deal. I had heard the remanufactured units from V1 were only like $50 cheaper than a new one but not sure. Just buy one, use it and then resell it. You will get almost all of your money fast and they are not hard to sell!
I saw a post on that one earlier and everyone raved about it.
Check out there website, This guy is a ex cop and has done extensive reviews and recomends the Escort Passport 8500 X50 or the Beltronics RX65(same company now), many say the V1 is old technology. and there false alarms are much higher then the others listed here, interesting reading at best.
Else this become another V1 vs. Escort thread, do what I did. Get both, and return the one you don't like. V1 is CERTAINLY not old technology -- you can upgrade it ad infinitum (unlike the others). Maybe it has a higher false alarm rate, but I keep mine on "All Bogeys" to give me as much information as possible. I'd rather filter out the hits based on the scenario and terrain than rely on a piece of blind circuitry to do it. I tried both, and have been thrilled with the V1 for several years. I've only ever seen one poster out of hundreds and hundreds that tried both and didn't pick the V1. People that bash it do so because of the price and because they've never tried it. (There are some "froofy" ones that think it's ugly -- gimme a break! ). Once you've had the arrows, you'll never go back.
Call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and you will get 10% off the retail price of $399. It will be the latest version V1.8 POP2 w/ Euro-mode and 3.858 firmware and that comes with all the accessories and a 1 year warranty.

I totally agree. I am a "radar expert", well according to Uncle Sam I am. He spent a ton of money to make me one. There is no way to "filter out" false alarms except to reduce sensitivity. They are all on the same frequency (door openers, alarm systems, radar units, etc.). Tell me how you can filter the same freqs? I have used the newest escorts and the V-1 and you can't beat the arrows. Just my opinion but there is a lot of out there. Pay your money and take your chances. And anyone who would like to argue that "none of them work" I would be more than happy to debate you. The LEO's love to tell you that they don't work. Yeah right! That's why the US Navy uses a version of a radar detector to protect billion dollar aircraft carriers from the radar on missles. (Damn I wish we had the arrows on them)
I hate to disagree, but not one is worth the money, if your local Leo's use laser.
I had a V1, great unit, but all it did was tell me I was hit with a laser. Still got the tickets. Not one can alert you to laser before you are hit, so unless your local leos are using radar, save your money.
Bottom line find out what they use in your area and where you drive. If they all are using laser like here in the Atlanta area, save your $$$ I sold mine
Second suggestion. get a hand held scanner, it will pick up speed traps. I had one spot they always worked, turned that scanner on when I left work and If I heard them, they were usually there
Good thread timing (Hi Davis). I was on my way home from work yesterday on 820 in Ft Worth, when my V1 (with remote display, love it!) starts chirping Ka band. I'm low on a slightly rising hill, so I 'check my speed' and move from left to center lane.
As I crest the hill and can now see ahead, I see the FtW LEO Camaro peeling out of the median and ride the emergency lane to nab a Monte Carlo SS (the newer ones, never did warm to that body style).
Long before I was visible to the LEO, my V1 forward arrow let me know of the impending doom and gave me time to react.

No V1 and no Monte Carlo, I'd have been toast.
Good to Know
Thanx Gary
We have a huge 700 ish mile road trip next month. Alot of 3 digit driving if you know what I mean. I need all the help I can get. although a V1 wont do much good if i'm the lead car and no traffic!!!!!!
