i hate that this is my first post, but perhaps you guys can help..
about a month ago i smacked the curb pretty hard in my car (02 z06). the front left wheel took most of the damage, and had to be pryed off of the rotor.
after getting it fixed, i drove it problem-free until the other day. i braked a little going about 120 mph, and instantly my car got sideways. it felt like the rearend just kicked about 2 feet to the left.
my first thought was either the front left rotor was warped, or the caliper was damaged.
but then, yesterday on my way home on the interstate, i went over a large bump at the end of a bridge (at about 60 mph) and the same thing happened.
so now i'm thinking it's a larger problem, but am clueless as to what it may be.
Unless you have a large life insurance policy paid up, please take your Z06 in to a reputable Chevy dealer and tell them what you have told us. Your wheel, suspension and/or other chassis parts are bent or broken.

the wheels were replaced after the curb incedent, and the car was 100% reliable, with no problems for over a month.
and another thing, the failure at 120 mph happened within 50 miles of an alignment. is there something the alignment shop could have done wrong or forgot to do that could have contributed to this?

if they accidentally left an adjuster loose it could be allowing caster, camber or toe to change drastically when under stress. this would account for the handling issues and the back end jumping out on ya...
I have seen a worn out trailing arm bushing make cars impossible to keep on the road at speed, the back end constantly fishtails and bounces side to side...

thanks, this sounds exactly like the problem i'm having, and the fact that the car performed spot on for a month, and then failed directly after the alignment supports it as well.
im going to take it back to the alignment shop and see what happens.
fixed.. the bastards at firestone didn't tighten everything down after they aligned it, took it to a dealership this time.
yep - that'll happen. Since you found a dealership that seems half-way confident you have truly found a diamond in the rough - better go buy a lotto ticket...
