I always wanted a Camaro since I was about 8 years old( Im 26 now). After I was able to fulfill my dream of owning a 69 Camaro SS and it got worse. I ended up threw the years to get all 4 generations of the camaro.
I got my 04 GTO and started to have problems with it, and my Fiancee said lets look for a 03 Cobra. I said sure, started to look and saw a Corvette at the local dealer. Stopped in looked at it and started looking at this point. Then about a month later I found the 01 Blown Z06 I have now. Now I will always have to own a Corvette. After years of saying I will never own asI used to say they were "Old mans cars" after the first test drive, I was hooked. I dont know what I was thinking, But I saw the light.

Was into cars as soon as I could say the word. Saw Corvettes very seldom as child but remember "Route 66" and "Father Knows Best" to check out the latest Corvettes and Chevys.
Father's cousin gets married in 1964. Engineer taking masters at MIT works summer job for construction company and gets a big bonus. Buy's 64 corvette ( tripple black roadster) has it at wedding. I'm eleven first one I see close up as its having cans tied on the back and being covered in wedding decoration. Decide then and there to get one.
Buy my first in 1978 (1977 L48 coupe) after working couple of years as an engineer. Add a 71 Lt-1 in 1981. Sell 1977 in 1982. Sell Lt-1 in 1989 and buy new 89 roadstr. Sell 1989 roadstr in 2001 and buy 1999 roadstr. Planning on a C7.
Hope I always have one. Rule is I won't sell one without a replacement.

Well just about everyone here has grown up wanting a vette---with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 people. I grew up in a family that was not into cars---at least not hot rods. As my father climbed up the corporate ladder our cars were practical luxury cars (thunderbirds, lincolns and so on). I had my share of fast cars (mustangs, camaros, t/a's). About 13 years ago my mother bought a canary yellow 76 vette. I drove it a few times but I really did not like it at all. 7 Years ago I met my husband. We were into boats and camping (28ft cabin cruiser and 37ft 5th wheel camper). His daughter needed some financial help at one point. Her husband (now ex) had bought her a gold 84 and she wanted to sell it to us so she could get out of debt. My husband (he was still a boyfriend then) was hooked. He never told me he dreamed of having a corvette so when we discussed helping her out by buying the car---I could not say no---he was like a kid in a candy store and it only got worse after we got it home. We paid 5K for the car and then he proceeded to customize her and fast---he wanted a hot vette to take to Carlisle--so I let him go. 4 years ago my mothers boyfriend (common law hubby by then) passed away and her 76 was left to my daughter. She now owned a 76 at 10 years old. The next sports car was to be mine. I wanted the T/A WS6 so bad I could taste it but I guess you can now call me a convert. We went to Carlisle last year and my husband thought it would be nice if we became a vette family. He was soo excited about the thought that I could not dissapoint him---but I did not like the 76 and I was none too thrilled with the C4 either but I looked at Carlisle just the same. I guess fate played a role in this as I found a REAL nice looking 93 vert for sale at Carlisle. I tried to buy it actually but Carlisle does not have alot of financing options there so it fell thru. I was supprisingly dissapointed. I started looking as soon as we got home for a vette I liked. Carlisle is in August and by October I had purchased my 99 coupe. As alot of you know--she has been in the shop since novemeber because it was my turn to customize. She will be done soon and then it's time to sell sell sell---not the vette---the boat and the camper---and the C4 too. We love my husbands car but he really likes to drive mine--so I think it is his turn to hit the C5 scene on is own. We will also be rebuilding the C3 then it will be sell sell sell again and another C5 will grace our presence. I am now totally hooked on the vette. I am not thrilled with the C6 so I am in no hurry to get rid of my baby. Maybe they will come out with a style I like later down the road but until I get the "I just gotta have it" feeling--it's C5's for me all the way...
I was about 9 or 10 back in 67 we were walking to school one day playing that "hey thats my car" game when around the corner came a Silver Corvette and I screamed "THATS MY CAR!" and that was it.
One of the funny parts of that story is one of the kids looked at me and said...
"SHUT UP BUY THE TIME YOU LEARN TO DRIVE THEY WONT EVEN BE MAKING THEM ANYMORE!"
Showing my age, but I used to watch Route 66 back in the day with Martin Millner, and his 58? I don't know what color it was, cause TV was still in Black and white. You remember? The Adam 12 cop. I was hooked at age 17 , when my rich cousin from North Carolina drove up to my parents house in Queens, NY with his big block coupe. He was a jerk, but I have to give him credit for his taste in cars. On my second one now, my most beautiful vette color ever, electron blue 03.
See, I had a '70 Chevelle in high school. Nothing special, stock (very tired) 350 V-8, 2-barrel Rochester carb, 3-speed Powerglide auto. Paid $800 for it and towed it home 'cause it didn't run. Rebuilt the engine in the driveway with my dad. Didn't have much money, but I did what I could with it. I've always been in love with the lines of the car and promised myself I'd have a perfect SS 454 one day.
Well, I lost my head and got married, and as most of you can probably relate to, the car dream went onto the back burner. Long story boring, after 13 years of putting everyone and everything ahead of what I wanted, I jettisoned 130 pounds of useless weight and started reexamining my automotive situation.
By now, of course, pristine LS-6 SS 454 1970 Chevelles are selling for in the neighborhood of $130K, and I started looking at 'Vettes on a whim one day. Started from scratch--didn't know a thing about the cars. When I looked into the history, and especially when I learned about the Z06, that pretty much sealed the deal.
Bought my black/black 2004 Z06 a few months later. Saved many bucks, get way better gas mileage, and the 'Vette's LS-6 likely makes more power than the Chevelle's in a package that's over 1000 pounds lighter. I'll buy THAT for a dollar...
i was never really into them until a couple months ago. ive had a z28 for almost a year now, and love the LS1 but i recently drove a c5 z06. i sold all of the aftermarket parts on the z28 and am hopefully selling the car later today. my next car... you guessed it, a c5 z06. im 19 btw.
I was 6 years old in 1971 and was going to the hardware store with my mother and there was a chrome bumper vette with side pipes sitting in front of the store. Wow! I am 41 years old now and will never forget that day.
I was around 5 or 6. A neighbor had a '53 and I was amazed. Sort of forgot about it until I saw a Dark Blue '63 roadster. At that point I was hooked. My older brother bought a new '65 and from then I couldn't wait until I could afford my own. Fast forward after a "few" Corvetes along the way I am still hooked!
Maybe I shouldn't say this but I didn't know I wanted a corvette until I test drove it and I was 21 at the time. I just went and drove it to see if I liked a vette and needless to say they delivered it to me the next day at work!
How old were you when you realized you wanted a corvette? For me... I was 5, it was 1969 and my uncle showed up with his 67 that he just bought and took me for a ride, when he brought me back I turned to my parents and said, someday I'll have one. I've been hooked since. I've had alot of different sports or sporty cars Z28's etc. but the vette has always been my favorite. I will always have a vette from here on out. BTW 67 is one of my favorite yrs. someday I will own 1 ! Enjoy your rides and to all you people wanting a vette good luck in realizing your dream
At 16 I promised myself I'd have one before I turned 40.I accomplished that goal and beat it by a few years.
I informed my parents when I was 3 years old that I wanted a Corvette. Someone in my neighborhool drove a dark blue 1965 or 1966 Stingray Coupe in the late 1960's and into the early 1970's.
