Default Battery Minder hookup

This is my first winter with my 04 C5. As the weather here in MA is nasty, I'm storing her for the next few months. Following some suggestions from the forum I bought a battey minder. I have the original AC Delco battery and hope I can get some help on hooking the tender up. 1. Is the ground on the AC Delco battery attached to the postive or negative post? 2. the instructions say to attach the 2ed minder lead clamp to the block, but the lead won't reach, any other suggested points to attach the second lead? Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the battery in the C5 is a negative grounded battery.

my instruction manual for my 'battery float charger and maintainer" says :

connect the positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery.

BUT, connect the negative cable to the chassis somewhere.

thats just mine tho....

I had a really old MG once that had positive Earth. I don't think there are any of them out there any more are there?

Negative earth, ground is the black.

I hook my tender up at the battery.

On the Z06, from the Battery Tender Plus - postive to positive on aux. fuse block in engine bay; negative to engine block.

Hooking the negative to block or frame the final connection – A manufactures way of protecting their butt in case sparks erupt and the battery blows itself on you. Not so much anymore with today’s batteries.

Positive first, Negative last when hooking up...Reverse the order when taking off.

I think it was George Washington who drove the last car with a positive ground.

Called the battery tender company because their instruction book did not make sense to me and they told me just hook it up black to black and red to red.
