It bothers me more to see the "wanna V's" running around.
I see this all the time too! All they do is swap on a mesh grill and that's usually enough to fool me. An older lady pulled into a Chili's parking lot a few weeks back as I was walking up and noticed the mesh grill. I automatically thought it was the V and said to her "Nice car! Those are pretty quick!" She said how she agreed and it's because of the turbos under the hood. I laughed it off as just being naive on how her 400hp was made. As I walked off, I noticed the 16" wheels and single exhaust pipe. I was fooled.

Tuesday a woman asked me if my car was one of those new nisan z's, I told her yes
It doesn't bother me, but I still think it's cheesy. They know what they really have and I know, too. Whatever turns them on, but we here have the real thing. A GM dealer I do work for took a convertible in on trade. The car had chrome wheels, different exhaust and a lot of chrome junk. It also had "Z06" emblems on the sides. There are some motorheads in the sales dept. and the owner drives a C6 vert, had a C5 before. They all wanted to know if it was a real Z06 because they didn't know a convertible version was ever made. I told them it was a fake and they pulled the emblems off.
To each his own, I actually took my Z06 badges off and had custom ones made by forum member Austin Barnett. Because the power level keeps going up, I elected not ot advertise it
How about when you see a 110 hp Honda Civic with aero kit, wings, lowered on stock suspension, after market chrome/anodized rims, and an 8" diameter exhaust.
These parts are avaialble for a reason - anyone can buy them. As long as they stay on a Vette it's all good. Now Z06 brake vents on a Civic! that'll get my blood boiling.
WantaZO6bees, couldofZO6bees, and wouldofZO6bees,
have one thing in common,
they know better than to fool with usZO6bees...............
as they they will get stung...................
It's tacky in my book, unless they take the parts and use them, ie they are functional. Like the brake ducts for example. I see people on this forum that have them and they actually do what they are suppose to do, not just a look ya know? If it is just for looks it's like taking Mustang Cobra badges and putting them on a Mustang GT,
Nope... whatever the Corvette guy wants to do to make his ride look better, then so be it. To me, it's not the little z06 badge on the fender that makes the car... it's the roof line and the power under my foot!
The only time it bothers me is when they lie and tell people it's a Z06 or put up pictures on Cardomain, streetfire or whatever stating that it's a Z06 when it's not.
And the funny part is when you call them on it they say you don't know what your talking about.
Like anything else, as long as they're honest about it, who are they hurting? Now if someone was trying to sell the car as a Z, that's wrong. When you come right down to it, probably only half the corvette people really know what a Z06 is, and fewer of the general public know what a Z06 gets you.
Brings me to an interesting story....
I had two state troopers in my garage (selling my snowmobile, not in trouble) this weekend. One guy notices something under the cover, yes, it's a corvette, oooh it's black. Well if you're interested, I say, off comes the cover. First thing out of their mouths was how low it was, second was one trooper thought it was a ZR-1. Close enough I said, explained what it was then we went over the car. Interesting conversation with "the law", how do you talk about a 400+ hp car, that looks like ours do, and not incriminate yourself. We did end up talking about some of the great curvey roads in north west Mass, and southern VT. One of the troopers was a bike rider, so he knew what a fun road is. After talking for a while, I did say I'd be happy to take one of them for a high speed ride on the MassPike, but only if they had the get of jail card with them. No takers, but a big smile all around.... Oh, and they did buy my sled.
