personally,i'm a "sleeper" kind of guy! just a minimum of tasteful mods, and slight tweaking underneath the hood.although,i can't understand why anyone would want to engage a 'vette in a street situation.just one man's opinion,mr. anonymous!!
I also like the "sleeper". That way if you do get beat they think they only beat a stock car. I had a new 409 Impala back in 1963 that had a three speed factory column shift and I removed the 409 numbers and flags and replaced them with 283 emblems. There were a lot of 57 Chevys who loved to pick on the 283s that were left scratching there heads.
IMHO the vette already looks awsome. Mods which augment the awsomeness,ex. headers/exhaust, cam(loping) remind and support with a bit of SHOCK. Hense SHOCK and AWE.
I really don't think you can qualify an iconic sports car as a sleeper. Even in stock form w/ wagon wheels and the old factory black catback the car is still known/assumed to be fast.
If you want sleeper take a civic, or something that isn't assumed to be fast... i.e. my buddy's volvo wagon w/ a LT-4 in it, or the TT LSX volvo wagon floating around the web.

That is exactly what I was thinking. How could a Corvette ever be a sleeper? To me a sleeper is a 9 second Pinto, Gremlin, or AMC Pacer...
With a big (g5x3) cam throught a set of headers and I big nitrous bottle sitting between my seats, they can assume what they want to assume....that being said, I guess i didnt go for the sleeper look
For those of you who didn't, let me define what I mean.
Your sitting at the tree at the drags and a teeth rattling, fender shaken, ground breakin opponent pulls up in the other lane. Everyone is expecting the stock looking Vette to get smoked by the other car, assuming a stock vette, as awesome and respectably fast as they are, will run a low to mid 13's on a good day and get smoked by this competetor. What happens though, is the stock appearing Vette puts down a 10.9 through the exhaust and the rest is history, thank you very much . . .
You can have your Civic, Pinto and Volvo, Volvo, are you kidding me?
I said sleeper, not comatose

Those of us who know what a car chopping and stinking means will presume that is the faster car. 90% of the people out there will still presume the Corvette is faster because it is a Corvette (these are the same people that have no clue what Z06 means either).

No... you're wrong. In the car world a "sleeper" is known to be a car that is not assumed to be fast, but is in fact extremely so.
A Corvette is always assumed to be reasonably fast and is a car that people aim to beat.
Just because it's a 10 second car that does it in a civil manner doesn't mean it's a sleeper... being a Corvette it cannot be a sleeper.
A late 80s fox w/ stock wheels and ****ty paint but w/ a Turbo 347 or something like that is a sleeper.
Super Sleeper ran as quick as 9.68 at 146 mph at the Pump Gas Drags(tm). That's without the Octane on Demand setup installed and with almost no testing on the car. He is confident it'll run 8s.

I get it. Sleeper all the way! Run a 10.9 and drive it home with the A/C cranked and the cd player blaring while the other cars are being loaded on their trailers.
Sleeper!
My DD is a '95 Chevy Caprice 9C1 package, former NY State Police car.
Very similar to the Impala SS of that era, but without the good looking rims, paint, spoiler, leather interior and SS insignia. But with the LT1, perf. axle ratio, solid shift transmission, 4wheel discs, HD everything.
I love the look on Ricer faces in the rear view mirror, particularly in reduced radius turns and even sometimes from a red light.
That's my definition of a Sleeper!
