For those c5 drivers that have done away with their runflats and tire sensors for other wheels and non runflat tires, is there any message that may keep appearing on the DIC because there is no sensors in the tires??

Even with non-runflats, TPS's are a good idea, they give you early warning on losing air. The Federal Government is making them mandatory.
The NHTSA has made them mandatory - in fact all vehicles manufactured after January 1 2008 must have them. They have been phasing them in since 2001. My new Cadillac SRX has them.
If your car is a '97 through a '00 - you can't turn the message off. If it's an '01 or newer as Oldvetter correctly stated, it can be turned off using a Tech II tool, dealerships have them as well as some independent shops.
I run aftermarket tires and wheels and I chose to retain them, because I feel that the TPM system is a great idea, it might save my tires and my life.....
I run without TPS on my winter wheels. Last spring the warning popped up the last week the wheels were on, this winter it has not surfaced yet. Seems most people get the message every startup, strange indeed. If it happens, you have to hit the reset button each startup. I agree, I would like to have the sensors on both sets of wheels for the peace of mind of knowing what’s going on in there.
