I think we can all agree that some improvement would be welcome. Because of the lowering of the car (I realize that is a driver choice), it becomes imperative that you SEE things in the road before you are too close to avoid HITTING them!
Let's face it, you cannot merely "straddle" something like you may do with your Family Truckster.
I am on the best solution here. Looks like HIDs are in my future. Either that or leave car in garage at night and that is way un-cool.

Kinda funny post - I usually drive at night with just the driving lights on - headlights off.
With the stock fogs? You prolly could go like 4 or 5 mph safely like that.
I did the Toshiba HIRs recently, just sapped out the low-beam bulbs. I think it's a good improvement for minimal investment, but I'd still lke more. I might try the HIR highs in the low socket next.

That's what hte HIR guys recommend doing, you'll have to shave a tab off I believe, minor mod though... And I agree great bang for the buck!
I hope I don't get shot for this. But honestly I don't have a problem at all with the lights on my Z06. I used the brights for the first time the other night and I thought they were great!
Try driving a fourth generation fbody. Now those lights SUCK.
I agree. It's all compared to what you have driven before. Compared to my previous cars, the sound system, headlights, and seat are great! Of course, my previous DD was an '86 Bertone X1/9.... with 80hp. Theses items could be better, but drive some vintage iron for a while and you will appreciate the C5 a lot more.

Exactly if you're driving around a Lexus as a DD with 240,000,000watt HID system then it's hard to compare.
I drive around a 05 durango everyday and it has HIDs. They're great. But my Z06 lights definitely don't hail in comparsion to them.
OK, people, what IS the best bulb to put in? Something under $100 please!
Run the Toshiba HIR 9011 in the low beam socket. You will have to do the 9005 conversion which is simple. For about $52 it is hard to beat the improvement. I did mine back in summer and highly recommend it.
Installed the EURO GM headlight with 90watt bulbs and new harness kit almost tow years ago - best money I have spent on the C5 and best headlights I have ever had. About $350 from PFYC.

2 silverstars, high amp alternator and a larger alternator wire with a optimaredtop later... and the lights are still barely adequate
Damn things are half the size... look nice but dont worth worth a fack. Even new. Considering swapping the lowbeams out for highbeams and swapping some wires so I can see better...
Turn the headlights on, then back it off a click to the parking light position. The headlights will stay up, with the headlights off. Or just start off from the headlights down position and turn to parking so the headlights stay down. Either way the parking lights and brake lights should light up
In different areas I have to use high beam sometimes.
That is what the high beams are for. If you have enough light with the highs why do you need anything any better? By the way all the pictures I have seen of HIDs comparing them to Halogen low beams do not show that much more distance just brighter close up where it doesn't count anyway.
I've driven all sorts of different vehicles, and owned a few different types myself. I'm perfectly content with the C5 lights and have never considered changing the headlights or tail lights.
