I've driven all sorts of different vehicles, and owned a few different types myself. I'm perfectly content with the C5 lights and have never considered changing the headlights or tail lights.
Compared to Model T's they're AWESOME headlights. I'd say just about any new car on the market today has better illumination than the a stock C5 set up. It's like mustard lighting.

Haven't owned a Model T. Oldest car I've owned was a 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S that I tricked out.
I have more of a problem of trucks' headlights blinding me from behind, than being able to see infront of me. Which is why I will never lift my truck as I don't want others to go through my fate.
Car list:
1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S
1990 Pontiac Grand Am LE Sedan
1990 Nissan 240sx Hatchback
1990 Nissan 240sx Coupe
1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT
1993 Mazda RX-7
1995 Nissan 240sx SE
1996 Chevy 4x4 Z71
2001 Chevy Corvette
Not including the 15 other vehicles my dad owns, the other probably 15 he's owned since I got my license, and all my friends' cars which I've had the chance to drive(Evo's, MR2's, STi's, Mustang Cobra's, etc).
But then again, I'm 27 with excellent eyesight(including at night), so I don't need assistance seeing.
I agree. It's all compared to what you have driven before. Compared to my previous cars, the sound system, headlights, and seat are great! Of course, my previous DD was an '86 Bertone X1/9.... with 80hp. Theses items could be better, but drive some vintage iron for a while and you will appreciate the C5 a lot more.
That's true. The point is that people paid A LOT OF MONEY for these cars and this is america most known sports car. The looks of the car do match the price though
I hope I don't get shot for this. But honestly I don't have a problem at all with the lights on my Z06. I used the brights for the first time the other night and I thought they were great!
Try driving a fourth generation fbody. Now those lights SUCK.
I hear that! My '96 Camaro's lights are the absolute worst.
Kinda funny post - I usually drive at night with just the driving lights on - headlights off.
I think yours is the funny post
C5 lights are horrible its dangerous to drive at night
you are just using the driving lights which provide 0 light to the ground
great way to get a ticket as well

When I 1st purchased my car I thought the same thing with my C5 but later on figured out to turn down the brightness of the HUD b/c of your eyes and how they react with brightness and darkness of nite.....Anyone agree with that????
This post brings to mind a similiar post of a year or so ago. Certainly different bulbs will help, however, a member complained of the same thing in the former post. He realized that whenever he washed his vette, he never brought the headlights up!!! They were dirty! Try soap and water first!!
From: 90% of all Fords are still on the road.....the other 10% actually made it home!

I know exactly what you're saying.....I have a '96 Z28 myself and I thought they were pathetic. That's exactly why I did the "Eurolights Sealed Beam Conversion" with mine. Took me about 45 minutes to swap them out and cost me less than $80.00 (went with the Blue/Gold Ion bulbs, and man oh man they're bright!
On my Vette I spent a whopping $24.99 for a set of 7000K H/O bulbs, which are quite a bit brighter than Silverstars. That took about 20 minutes, which is only because you have to remove the headlight brackets to get to them.
Lots of modding, memories, and fun. Street race win % around 85. But I quite years ago while I was ahead. Still have the Falcon and Z06.
Nice car list.
I was never big on street racing though. Most of my cars were setup for handling at the track/Auto-X, mountain runs. Street racing ends up being who has more mods and less about driver's skill on the street. At least around here.
