Default CTS-V anyone??

I've been looking into the cars and LOVE the looks and the options. The Z right now is completely impractical and is barely driven but only about 2 weekends a month.

I'm considering something more functional and love the LS6 motor - hence the CTS-V. Just wondering if any of you fellow Z owners have had the chance to take one for a spin? Any likes? Dislikes?

Thanks for any input!

Default Cts-v

I test drove one, at the autoshow in motion, was on the same track as the vette. there nice. Good power and handle great and great brakes. I don't know, how new of one you want but the 2007 now have the LS2 not sure about last years though. http://www.autoshowinmotion.com/

I've never driven one but I had an '05 GTO with the LS2. AWESOME motor, tons of grunt. There is a guy around my area that has his V set up and it is a looker. G'luck.

The only way to have the best of both worlds is to have both.

The V is a hoot

I am on the same boat at you....love my 01 Z06, but because it's my only car, it's getting impractical if I need to haul more people around. Been looking at the CTS-V, 300C SRT8, and the E39 M5 as my next daily driver.

Anyone know if the CTS-V with the LS2 is any quicker than the CTS-V with the LS6?

my guess is that the ls6 runs better....ls6's just seem to run stronger than ls2's in my opinion.

I've been kicking around the thought of swaping my 04 Z for a ctsv for the same reasons

A CTS-V is in my forseeable future as well. I saw a 4 door run a 12.0 at E-town, don't know if it was stock, but damn.

If you're planning on using the CTS-V as a weekend car. Keep your Z06. All around theres no way that the CTS-V can compare to the performance and handling of the Z06. Both are beautiful cars and if I had to daily drive this the CTS-V would be my over all decision. But I absolutely love taking my Z06 out on weekends and driving my daily driver. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Default CTS-V versus Z06

I purchased my Z06 last February. At the same time I found a 2005 CTS-V that had not been titled at another dealership, very close to the dealership that had the Z06. I was not interested in a "daily driver". I gave the choice to my wife and she said "I would rather have the Corvette." Nuff said.

I am sure that the CTS-V is a really nice car.

Go drive one, then try to convince yourself you don't want it.

Ditto. But, I really want to see the production Camaro before I get too crazy.

I really, really like the CTS-V.

I've run with a few CTS-V's on the track in my '02Z, and with a little suspension work and a set of Hoosiers they can hang right in there. Definitely NOT your Grandpa's Caddy.

Default Z06 and CTS-V

As Heaveymetals said, you need to have both to appreciate both. I have my 2002 Z06 and I bought a 2005 CTS-V for the wife. She wanted a four-door Corvette so that's what I bought her. We stuck with the LS6 motor because of it's versatality and heritage. If GM put that engine in the C5Z06, there must have been a reason. The CTS-V is very good. Great handling and rocket performance. Excellent seating for four. Full Cadillac amentities including navigation. We do not the V in the winter as the summer performance runflat tires are crappy. Used in the summer, the CTS-V is a fabulous performance car. It is very good as an everyday driver. The wife says it shifts smoothly. There have been some reported issues with the rear end. Ours whined and was replaced at 6300 miles under warranty by the first owner. Nothing since. It's not a big issue. Even Corvettes have issues. People still buy them. Once you test drive a CTS-V, you'll know how special it is.

The one thing I miss the most in my V is the HUD.

The second thing I did something about
(the shifter).

Third thing was I added a maggie to keep up with the Z.

Maggied the Z because I ain't gonna be beat by no Cad!

The CTS is going to be replaced this august.

No CTS V for a year.

I would hesitate to buy the CTS V at this point new because the depreciation would be huge...

You might get a preowned example for a very good price.

Otherwise you might look for at a pontiac G8 V8.

I've read several threads questioning their reliability compared to Z06's overall, but it could have been a case of a few lemons. I'm sure it's a really fun 4 door sedan, with tons of power and torque to share with your numerous passengers! Kind of an American BMW M5 I guess!

The V is not a drag racer.

Great road car and a modders wet dream.
