Well, question answered I suppose eh?

You gotta' just go with the 'vert.

So they do cost a little more, but if and when you sell, you should re-coupe you money
(no-pun-intended) >>> coup

A coupe with the top off has alot of annoying wind buffeting and a worse experience than a vert. Roadster all the way!

Love my Vert! I leave the top down 90% of the time. The other 10% - if it gets cold at night, if she and I are dressed up, etc etc. we'll leave the windows rolled up - this cuts the wind a bit...

I have owned many a vert and in some models it makes all the difference.
From just a coupe to a real nice ride. The Vette is a rare breed that it is a beauty in either format. But my preference is always the vert it's just that much better. There is something about the all around air feeling of freedom, That just can't be duplicated....

Get a Brittney Spears cut. Buy the convertible and enjoy it!

Seriously, there is an option you can buy aftermarket to reduce the wind in the cockpit. Its called a VetteNet I believe.

I have one. Got it for my g-friend because I'm bald, haha.

Works as advertised. Its also easily removable if you want to let your hair blow around once in awhile.

When I want whats left of my hair to stay put when the top is down, I wear a ball cap Verts are the ONLY way to go! Especially at nite.

I've had both and loved them both. Something to consider, the top on the coupe is a little unwieldy to remove alone and when stowed takes up most of the rear. With the convertible, you can put the top down and still have access to the trunk, which is lockable. It's much quicker to raise or lower the top than handle the targa. Either way you go, you'll enjoy the ride.

Pro's and Con's

VERT

Pro's
Great ride
Slightly better way to feel the wind then the coupe

Con's
MUCH more dangerous then the coupe. If you ever rolled one, just bend over and kiss it goodbye because your windshield WILL buckle, and you'll be missing a head
Rag top, meaning it is prone to leaks, exspecially the older ones.
Worse to deface. Defacing a coupe means to key it, defacing a vert means to stab holes in the rag top, something that will require immediate repair.

COUPE

Pro's
Pretty much the same "wide open wind" ride as the vert.
Much safer: with a support behind you as well as in front of you, rolling with the top off is the same as rolling in any other coupe.
Seals much better: you don't have to worry about a leak.
You're top can't be cut through
It's more difficult to break into then a vert, since a vert can simply be cut into without the car alarm going off.

Con's
A slightly weaker "open air" experience
The top takes up the trunk space

IMHO, the coupe when it comes to a Vette is the better choice. If it were any other car, I would say go with the vert, but when you can have a removable hard top, thats the direction I would go.

I have had both and the coupe top is a PITA to deal w/including removal at high temps(it will be scorching hot to handle), somewhat heavy or awkward and one error could leave a damaged top or damaged car. Another thing I don't believe anyone else has mentioned is the removable top is likely to become somewhat visibly etched with no repair only replacement. Safety factors advantage coupe, fun factor true open experience vert hands down.
