My hubby is forcing me to buy a C5 (don't you feel sorry for me...lol). We're undecided as to whether we want a convertible or a coupe. My question is to all you ladies, or gentlemen, with long hair under 5'5" tall. How bad is the wind distortion on your locks?
Any other pros and cons for each type would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your input.
The vert is the only way to go. Nothing a hair tie or two can't take care of. Nothing like fun in the sun!!! I get mine cut just before summer to get rid of the ends, and then again when the sun is gone. No issues.
Ive owned both... I Love the vert It is wonderful when you have a great day to drive it topless. But... the coupe is much more quiet and when you take the top off it is almost as rewarding. Good luck
I do not see what your height has to do with the issue but it is a vert and yes your hair will be blown all over the place.
If you want less turbulence in the cockpit. there are windscreens that you can put on the car to cut down on the turbulence and hair blowing. I do not have any personal experience with the screens. I just let the hair fly or put on a hat. It is only hair and what fun it is the feeling of freedom driving a vert.
Having never owned a vert, nor any desire to want one.. I'm perfectly happy with my coupe, either the windows down, or the top out... hair can get a little messy.. but some like the look I'm a ball cap girl, so it really doesn't matter.. GO FOR IT
Another advantage of a coupe is that it can be locked up tight and you'll feel safer in it if you ever get caught driving in a borderline neighboorhood... If you're going to leave it out overnight, or in hotel parking lots when you travel, it's something to think about.

Owned two coupes, 76 and a 95. Currently own a 02 vert. I would go with the vert even though they are a little more expensive.
My vert, with the top up is much quieter than I thought it would be when I bought it. With the top down wind is no different than any other convertible out there. Put your hair up in a pony tail and have your husband wear a ball cap if so inclined. You may discover that you love the feel of the wind blowing through your hair.
I've heard people say that removing the top on a coupe makes it just like a convertible. Don't believe it cause it isn't, in my opinion, true. There is nothing like setting in a wide open convertible and driving down the road!

But you really can't go wrong with either model.
I drive in and through plenty of "borderline" neighborhoods with the top down, these are not the places i worry about though. if someone wants to do me harm, i don't think that having a coupe is gonna make it that much harder
If it's only a question of Wind in your hair - then i'd go w/ the vert, just cause you can always leave the top up if you don't wanna mess up your hair... then on days you don't care - at least you have the option.
Me - i HATE the soft top look... always have and always will... i would LOVE a hard top convertible - but that aint gonna happen for me. So i went with the coupe - the Targa comes off which is nice... And the top of the car looks right... IMO lol
