swapping engines

Is it possible to put a crate z06 engine in my 2000 vert. if it is possible what other items would i have to buy?

Yes it is, I believe the computer and such are the same.

Are you asking about a C5, or a C6 Z06 crate engine?

By "crate" we'll assume it is a long block (including intake).

A C5 will 'fit' - no problems. You will need a tune.

If it is a C6 - be aware that there are numerous issues to overcome (placement of the oil sump, computers change out, etc.).

If you are just doing it for the extra hp, don't bother. Get a head cam package installed on the existing car. (Yes the LS6 will fit with no issues-- LS2/7 will require other items)

if you have to replace the engine for other reasons, good idea. If you've got a good engine, you're better off just doing a head/cam swap because that's pretty much all the LS6 is.
