Sorry it happened... but I'm really glad you didn't blame the LEO for doing his job. I wish more people could do that instead of coming here and bashing the cops for it.
I agree with you girl---just keep the windows down. I'll be getting my windows tinted to and hopefully will not have that problem--but I'll keep the windows down just to be on the safe side
What's the point of getting your windows tinted if your going to keep them down??
Florida is the same. 35% on the side windows...as dark as you want on the rear windows if you have outside mirrors on both sides. Friend got nailed with 5%. Cop took a key to his window tint and scratched "X"s in it on the side windows to make sure he had it retinted. On my 93 Vette, I went 20% all the way around. Shop wrote it up for 35% all the way around. Got pulled over and the cop used his little tint doohicky on it. Came back at 23% (was on for a couple of years and lightened up some). I showed him the receipt (kept it in the car, just in case). Cop figured that with the sky being overcast that day that his tint doohicky wasn't working correctly. Let me off without another word.
[QUOTE=Rocket02;1559538229][QUOTE=C5-GIRL;1559536834] The fine is $76
... and it's been on there over 2 years.
Hmmm...? Well, on the bright side, according to the math, its only costing you $3 per month to drive around with nice tint. Ya can't find anything nowadays for 3bucks a month.
Sorry to hear about your incident.
I Just got 50% tint on mine Friday. I wanted to go darker but the legal limit here in MD is 35% NET. If you get caught here, they give you a repair order to take the tint off and replace it with a legal tint or no tint at all. You then have to take the car to the DMV to prove it was done.
A police officer was recently shot and killed here after stopping someone for speeding. They are blaming it on the tint... he could not see in the car.
Needless to say, I don't want to take any chances.... legal tint for me.
Blaming it on the Tint is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. So the Tint killed him not the Criminal Driving the car? Sorry to hear about the officer that really sucks. I wish they would look at the real problem,

So they can damage you car too? thats crazy the officer prolly should have been reported for that, Yeah I got some shrapnel in my eye in IRAQ and I got my doc to write up a thing that says my eyes are sensitive to light so I can have whatever tint I want on the sides..... I just keep that note on me, but it doesn't help from getting pulled over
I know everybody loves the dark tint for the privacy and it looks cool (I think it looks cool too). But to a LEO - he has no idea what kind of evil is lurking behind the tint, and if the evil is cradling a pistol on it's lap. That's why they have the laws really - to protect the LEO's when they make a traffic stop.
Is that why there are laws against having trucks with doors over eye-level?

From the back! They can't see in the vehicle until it's too late anyways.
What does make sense for tint restrictions is for safety reasons in regards to night-time visibility.
That's the real reason for the statutes, not the LEO protection as so many think. Now, it may also be of benefit to LEOs for the reasons stated, but that is really secondary. The fact that many jurisdictions allow 20% on vehicles with L/R and R/R windows (and rear window as well as long as there are two outside rearview mirrors) is indicative of this. The most highly regulated windows are the L/F, R/F and obviously the windshield (below the "AS1" line).

Unless you have established residency, I doubt they can. That's like saying they could also write you for not carrying your "registration" papers despite the fact that some states don't require it to be carried (Texas for example). If someone moves there and just hasn't changed over to ND plates yet after whatever the required time is and then get ticketed, shame on them.
