Tint ticket... (long)
He asked if I knew what was on there... "Um.. 35% I think" He gets his little window tint checker out, & the numbers start climbing... then it stops at 12 "oh crap" I'm thinking to myself this can't be good..
"Miss, the legal tint in Kansas is 35% this is NOT LEGAL - license & insurance papers please" ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
5 minutes later he comes back with my ticket, I have to appear in court in may. I called the number on the ticket, it might be a possibility I won't have to go. The fine is $76
NEVER have I been messed with about the tint on my car... and it's been on there over 2 years. Oh well, live & learn.. I'll roll them down from now on I guess.
The rest of the week went good in Chicago thou..
I have heard here in VA, they can actually make you remove the tint right there on the spot
I do try to avoid being stopped next to a cop like at a stop light and if I am, I put the windows down real quick
I know sooner or later, I will be telling this same story as you

Been there done that.... Was pulled over by a local on the tint on my windows on my truck. All I had to do is show them the truck with no tint on it and I had no fine. Put tint on my Vette and so far so good after a year. maybe I should have not said that...

I think if you show evidence that you have had the tint removed and replaced with the legal density, the case will get tossed in court. Either way - whether you pay the fine or change the tint, you pay.
I don't think it's a moving violation though (I have no idea about laws in Kansas), it's an equipment violation, at least it is in Arizona and Illinois (the two states that I have lived in....)

As soon as that starts happening, we know the country has gone to communism.

I'm more than a bit surprised that he was going the other way and turned around just to get you for tint... Dang...
Good to hear the trip to Chicago was good!!
Hang in there lady... If you go see Oak, he's getting into the tinting business these days... you know that he works really, really cheaply!!

I admit, my Trans Am has tint (purchased that way). Someday, I need to find out the amt of tint.

Roll down your window will make no difference on this ticket.

Hmmm...? Well, on the bright side, according to the math, its only costing you $3 per month to drive around with nice tint. Ya can't find anything nowadays for 3bucks a month.

Now...where do cops approach a vehicle?
From the back! They can't see in the vehicle until it's too late anyways.
What does make sense for tint restrictions is for safety reasons in regards to night-time visibility.
