Drove a C5 (2002) for the first time today. Yeah it was faster than my 92 but I wasn't impressed. The ride felt like I was driving a really fast version of my dad's Town Car.
I like that my C4 handles and rides like true sports car.
yes, its different. Sometimes the stiff ride gives the illusion of being a better handler. ?!?!?
I rode in a friends 610 hp C5 and we were doing some Viper killing in an unnamed closed course . The car felt soft going around corners, but it stuck good. Maybe because I was riding shotgun it felt weird...Honestly I think a C4 could have done the same job provided it wasnt sprung too stiffly. one bump through some of those turns and it would have been a goner. .

I own both. Let me tell you there is no comparison. The C5 handles and rides much better than my 91. It is more solid and corners extremely well compared to the C4.
Stock versus Stock, the C5 will easily outhandle the C4. You did not say what type of C5 you drove or what suspension it had. If you like a stiffer suspension, just upgrade to Bilstein sport shocks and Z06 springs with poly bushings. Also, what type of tires were on the car. Better to have the non-EMTs.
Take a test drive in a Z06, I am sure you will have an entirely different opinion.
I have owned a 62 removeable hardtop vert, a 92 targa top, and now an 02 targa top - I have to say (even though I would love to have the 62 back) the 02 has the best ride of the three and is much easier to enter/exit than the 92. To each their own, but I will stick with my C5.
I just sold my C4 for a C5, so the memory is still fresh. Both coupes, both automatics. On the typical straight road drive, I miss the stiffer seat of the pants sports car ride of the 4. On railroad tracks, cobblestone, potholes or pieces of grass in the road, the 5 can't be beaten. My first mod will be the stiffer springs, etc. The 4 was a great car and I miss things about it, but the 5 is a more refined car. Which is better; a tight bodied hot 'blond' in the sack or a gorgeous 'brunette' that takes care of all your (other) everyday needs, wants and desires. They're both worth having, just gotta choose one.
Drove a C5 (2002) for the first time today. Yeah it was faster than my 92, better looking than my '92, handled much better than my '92, took high speed turns much better than my '92, oh hell was just a much better all around sports car that my '92 but I wasn't impressed. The ride felt like I was driving a really fast version of my dad's Ferrari.

right....town car?! not even close!! when i drive my mom's town car it like floats and i hate how soft it feels...when i drive my C5 it rides and turns like its on some train tracks!! i loooove it!!
