Hmmm, not impressed by the better product....that says plenty right there. Go have fun in your C4.......you're not ready to step up to a better car yet.
Drove a C5 (2002) for the first time today. Yeah it was faster than my 92 but I wasn't impressed. The ride felt like I was driving a really fast version of my dad's Town Car.
I like that my C4 handles and rides like true sports car.
You people who think C4>C5 need to put down the crack pipe. The C4 was a great car.....for the '80s. Some people just can't accept that modern cars can handle better AND ride nicer. I rode a lot of miles in my dad's ZR-1 as a kid and it's a great car. Rode like an effin log wagon. My lowered C5 FRC handles better and, though still relatively stiff, doesn't have the cowl/steering column move like it's barely attached to the rest of the car.
I have had a C4 and now have a C5.....if I could have every year I would. Each vette has technology per its years....as for the C4 Handling better than a C5 that's a negative....I have Selective ride control etc...and I can tell you these C5's handling is top notch and above the C4 and should be...given new developments!
Hence the reason C4s aren't chosen over the C5's for racing unless heavily modified.

My first mod will be the stiffer springs, etc. The 4 was a great car and I miss things about it, but the 5 is a more refined car. Which is better; a tight bodied hot 'blond' in the sack or a gorgeous 'brunette' that takes care of all your (other) everyday needs, wants and desires. They're both worth having, just gotta choose one.
Why do you have to choose one. Maybe the blonde likes the brunette too
To those of you who are upgrading your shocks/suspension: Are you roadracing, auto X, or what? For daily driving, I think the stock C5 handles just fine, except for the runflats. I'm definitely going to be toss'n those when they wear out.
Someone kick me. Did he say what I thought he said about rather have a C-4? My 59 vert ran great and smoked my C-5 too. Yeah right. I'd love to have a C-6 but they go too fast. Okay I'm sorry but couldn't resist.
Feels lower to the ground which I like, I was trying to figure out why I couldn't get the seat any lower when I test drove my C5 Felt like I was sitting on a stack of books at first
The extra storage compartments on the doors and bigger console. I couldn't figure out where to move all my stuff when I switched cars
The gas tank is in the middle, nice to have at a crowded station
I like the way the windshield wipers moved in different directions
I am still glad I have my C5 just miss those few little things

I always wonder why these threads are moved to C5 Gen. It essentially ruins the thread. And many of you guys in C5 Gen get offended easily when being compared to C4's. I wish this thread had stayed in C4 Gen. oh well.

From: 90% of all Fords are still on the road.....the other 10% actually made it home!
To each his own I guess. I've never driven a C4 and probably never will. I don't like the body style enough to ever own one so why bother driving it. As far as the C5 not being as much of a "True" sports car as the C4..........Yeah, as if Chevrolet would put all the time and effort into making a new model Vette that wouldn't out perform the generation before it.
I have had two C4's and three C5's. The C5's will outperform the C4's on the track, but for the feel of driving a sports car I really enjoy driving a C4. The C5 has more of a luxury car feel; whereas, you really feel the rode more with the C4.

I have a friend with a 911 who drove a C6. He said the same thing. When I questioned him he finally said the ride was TOO nice. So if it didn't jar the fillings out of your teeth, it isn't a sportscar???
The C5 and C6 have proved themselves over and over. Nuf said.
