You drove your Vette into water so deep that it locked up the motor???
Are you mentally challanged? Sorry, but that's about all that would make me feel bad at this point.
You my friend need to "learn reading comprehension", from my initial post:
I was on a highway frontage road, stopped at the light and when it turned green I proceeded across the intersection to the highway on ramp and drove right through unexpected "deep" water.
And either learn to spell or at least use a spell checker . . . challanged?
They told me I could go directly to one of their approved shops and just get the work done, or I can decide where to have it repaired. I still have GMPP. so that's a consideration too . . . And although I want it done well, I can't see making AAA pay a gold plated bill, that's not right.
I'm leaning towards Moritz Chevrolet right now. They've done some good engine work on local club members' cars so I'm sure they'd do a good job and it ensure my GMPP isn't voided. If it's only a rod or two, then new rods/pistons to replace the damaged ones will hopefully be all she needs.
True. When it comes to a corvette, almost every bill is gold plated. $20 for 3 washers and 2 insulators to fix my headlight is crazy. I know we need the rain bad here in DFW, but I didnt want it.
Your insurance company will give you a prorated worth of the engine depending on the miles of use gotten out of it already. You will get just enough money to make the car exactly how it was before. They will normally replace the entire engine and come up with a value of your used engine before it broke and pay full labor. The good part about it is they'll go off of dealer prices for a new engine and labor. You can just collect a check and then decide what to do with it.

Yeah, I agree with you. I even thought, gotta take the highway all the way home tonight . . . I didn't even see the water until the splash.

I've read various reports already tonight of how different insurance companies handled a hydro claim, so we'll see how AAA handles my claim.
If the engine ends up being rebuilt, I could see dropping in a new cam.
Now you got me worried. The previous owner of my car installed the old discontinued Halltech CAI too. With my car lowered, the bottom of the filter is about five inches off the ground. And we has a monsoon season here in the desert.

Yeah, I'd be a little concerned about that. I try to avoid driving the Vette in rain whenever possible, but you never know when a monsoon storm is going to roll through. I was considering a vararam, but now I'm rethinking that...
