Default I'm Amazed!!!!

Stopped driving my '98 in June of last year due to having a total left hip replacement. I forgot to add Sta-Bil to the fuel before storing. I did, however, have almost a full tank of gas. Just hooked up my Battery Tender and let her sit until today (10 months later). Got in , crossed my fingers, turned the key and about 1 1/2 seconds later, she fired up.....It started and ran as good as it did the day I picked it up in May, 1998....Only had to add about 4-5 lbs. of air to each tire and I was off.
It sure felt good behind that steering wheel again----Man, I love this car...

Glad that you lucked out on this one. Could have been a lot different with bad gas.

Same for me, it started up as if I drove it the day before. But you know, I expected that. It is a great car!!

Hi,
Congrats on the hip. I got one also. Got it this January. Left one here too.

Managed to get in the Vette and drive it in March. It's a six speed also.

Glad I,m only 5'2". Easier to get the short legs into the car.

I do the same with my Harley. I usually stop riding around October. I add a little Sta-bil to the gas and hook 'er up to the Battery-Tender. When I go to start the hog in the spring, usually around April or May, she starts right up. I am a believer in Sta-bil and the Battery Tender. Will be buying one for the Vette soon, as I do not drive it during bad weather.

Congrats! I would add fresh gas when you get to 3/4 tank and again at 1/2. Dilute that old stuff.

When you add fresh gas that should help get rid of some of the varnish that may have accumulated. As an added step I would put a bottle of TechRon or a good injector cleaner of your choice in the tank.

Cheers

Hoo-Raa ! Glad to hear you're back on the road with you Vette. I feel the same way about my 1999 C5. . . . ! For me a day without my Vette is a day without fun. . . . Congrats !

I took mine out of storage yesterday after 6 months. It's been so long since I've driven it that it takes me a little while to adjust to driving it again. I hooked up the negative battery terminal and it fired right up. I had a very minor oil leak last spring when I took it out of storage, but it stopped as soon as I drove it. I'm thinking a gasket probably dried up a little from sitting so long.
