Default Replacement audio head unit - Touch screen?

I'm looking for a decent replacement for my radio. I am the farthest thing from an "audiophile" and just want a decent sound, but more power, and a modern look. Sat Rad ready and a touch screen would be nice as well. Any reco's?

I'm in the same category as you.

I went with the Pioneer AVIC N1 (now the N3). I liked it so much I fitted the Euro version (X1R) when I came back to England.

Its a combined radio/CD/DVD/sat nav. 1.5 DIN unit so it fits into the stock housing. Flip out 7.5" touch screen.

You can do a DIY fit but its reasonably complicated. You need a Soundgate GMCRV1 adaptor and an antenna adaptor to fit it to the stock speakers.

Thats a Double DIN unit so you'd need a modified radio housing

C5 Kidd does a great mod if you decide to go for the bigger screen

Geez, they are bit pricer than I expected. Wanted to keep it under $500 for the unit.

I'll check the audio section as well. Thanks for the replies fellas!!

Unless you are getting off some kid on a street corner you arent getting a touch screen/nav unit for 500. Heck the soundgate converter is already 20% of your budget :-P

Yup, that reality has hit me like cold fizzy water.

I think Im going start researching JVC units like the KD-AVX's. Something like the KD-AVX33

I would like more of a fixed screen effort. I would also like to take away those air con dials and replace them with some sort of LCD display... Must be possible.

The reason for not being so keen on the pop up screen is that it blocks the main A/C vent and with 50Degree in the shade summers coming my way that vent ismy life line lol
