Anyone ever feel like the corvette distracts you from the really important things in life? Live your wife, or family or God etc? Currently I am nearly to the point where I realize that I have a love for this Thing called a corvette and that is subtracts from the important loves that I should have in my life. Anyone been there? Anyone sick of worshiping and devoting and sacrificing time for your vehicle or other posessions?
I honestly know that I spend too much time thinking about the car and mods and all... and on this forum, too. I don't think I'm at a point where other things or people are being neglected, but I WOULD get a lot more work done if I could "turn it off" from 9-5.

Wha...? My wife left me? When? Last January? Why? She said what? Me or the Vette? Hope someone told her the correct answer to the multiple choice question!
Actually no. I don't worship mine. It is another possession that in the big picture...if I ever go bankrupt, they can have it. I lived through hurricane Andrew and realize now that no object is irreplaceable and I can walk away from it all and start yet again. I can do without any of them. My wife and I were in a walk-in closet with 4 other people and our 6 lb poodle through the 4 hours of the eye and I prayed for 4 hours ...not to a corvette either...as the house was ripped apart. When it was done we walked away with one beat up car, the poodle, and each other. The house, other two cars, and a boat were all gone. So I have the lord and the wife above all things.
Besides, my wife loves to go driving in the country side in the vette on Sundays after church. So I can have all three.
Don't worry too much about all of the possessions...I had good insurance.

When my husband got his 84---he obsessed over it but always looked to me so that it was a combined effort. He has always been **** about his car and I have only complained a few time. Then he suggested I get a vette--and I did. I obsessed over it---then he obsessed over it more and now we obsess over it together.
If you can include your family in your obsession then at least you are doing it together---and out 15 year old has one too---so we all obsess over hers as well..It's a family obsession
Dude, time to do a self-inventory! Never forget it's JUST A FU**ING CAR! Stuff is stuff, life is too short to forget the ones you love, and those who love you. And best of all thanking spirit for giving you the opportunity to accumulate all the stuff, and experience love. If this car is everything to you, you are compensating for a deep dissatisfaction within you. I came to this conclusion a while back "That which gives you pleasure, will ultimately give you pain". Be prepared to learn the lesson when someone backs into your pride and joy, learn how to release attachment from physical things and your life will be more meaningful and intensely happy.
Thanks for being so HONEST, many behave the way you describe, yet few admit it!

Peace brother, we can solve your ills, take this robe and these bells and head to the airport! Free yourself from your corvette shackles, renounce the satan of the automobile, listen to the songbird of the blue mushroom and groove man, groove!

Reason: spelling
One day we must all leave this place and all that we have acculated behind. What will be said about you as a person will live on longer than what you obsessed over .
The corvette can definitely take you away from your family if YOU let it. From the moment I started dreaming about owning a Corvette I had my family all along. We test drove all the cars together (even though my wife fret and fumed when we drove in below 0 temperatures ) She had some really good pointers too, like keeping me in check and we finally ended up with a car we are BOTH proud of. I obsess over cleaning the car every weekend and let her drive it first. She loves that and does not complain when I spend money on mods When I am cleaning the car my 16-month old helps me out, yeah that's right she does. And last of all, every time I drive the car I always pray and thank God for making our dream come true
