If you watch the owner's video that comes with the car they tell you for optimum handling you should lower the car 1". I believe the stock height meets certain gov't. guidelines, but the car will look and handle better lowered on the stock bolts. Only my opinion, but I think if you did it, you'd be pleased with the effort. It can always be adjusted back to stock if you don't like it.
my car is at factory height and its so low already. I wanna lower it so badly but I already scrape at stock height on my driveway. I think I will lower it that one inch for the better handling and just slow down even more when I encounter bumps and driveways.
In the end I guess you gotta pay the cost to be the boss.

Really...that wouold explain the adjustability of teh suspension...most 9cars dont give you the option w/o doing major parts replacement..ie springs shocks etc

Really you notice much of a difference with reguards to scraping...get a set of "FatMommas" and just drive like you are now...lowering on the stock bolts does give you a very noticable difference..I agree lowering any further (extended bolts and cutting spacers etc) while it looks nice..would be a bit too much for around town

Ive heard that gm had the ride height up high from the factory to help with the transporting of the cars to the dealers. The video tells you to lwr it 20mm and set the camber to -1.2 and you should be able to get 1g around corners.Im still playing with my ride height but once I did lwr it I could tell a major difference in the way the car handled.

Correct... factory ride height is for transport and dealing w/ big curbs/speedbumps so that clueless drivers don't destroy the cars.
Lowering w/ the oem adjustments about 1" will provide optimal handling... even lower looks even better, but will throw off the suspension geometry a little.
The race cars that are spammed have coil overs and drop spindles.
Hmm this is very interesting. Of course lowering the car would improve handling! Dunno why I didn't think of that before. I thought lowering was just for looks! haha duuh. Are there any instructions on this site that explain how to do this lowering mod? I've had issues with the front of the car hitting curbs or steep drives, but that's about it... never high-centered on anything. I totally love the looks of the car, but there seems to be a bit of excessive space around the wheels in the wheel wells.
When I had mine aligned I also asked them to adjust the ride-height and rake for the best overall performance. They ended dropping the rear all the way down and then adjusting the front to 1/2" below the rear. Coming from a shop that has won 24 hrs of Le Mans multiple times, I will listen to their guidance...

WHAT...this changes everything! This is the first I've heard of this
This is very important information. You've got to understand that I live by the mantra "if it didn't leave BG on my car it don't belong"...that goes for any mods...say what you want but it's my car and I'll do as I damn well please thank you very much . Take my '82 for example; becasue she has the original wheels, radio, all the smog crap and cross-fire set up etc, etc, 25 years later she is worth far more than one without all of factory stuff...not to mention she is a garage queen.
But the above quote is great news, this is a factroy endorsed/recommended mod. May be time to set up a lowering party . Not that I don't believe you but I've got to hear/see it for myself. What video are you referring too? The only thing that came with the 2004 that I know of was the CD, is it on that?
