Default Repaint cost

Anyone have any idea what it costs to repaint the whole car? Secondly - any recommendations in Atlanta? I have a few places I'm considering but thought I'd get some second opinions from the community.

I would plan on 7-8k for it to be done correctly.

That's about what I figured as well. I have an appointment at 11:00 to get an estimate for the job, so if they're not up to that ballpark I guess I'll head to the next place on my list and see what they say... thanks for your opinion.

Don't let anyone paint your car until you see the work they have done on other cars. Price isn't everything!

Call Darryl Smith at True Colors Collision in Loganville 770-554-3434. He is extremely detail oriented and stands behind his work. I have seen his work on a few Vipers and other high end cars (I think he does a ton of work for Maxie Price too) and it is better than factory. When he was doing the Viper, I saw him break out the micrometer to document all of the body, door, hood gaps, etc.

Tell him Bart Gadlage referred you.

Just another .02...Fenders and Finishes in Gainesville has done some work for me (non Z06) and they do a great job. Very clean/organized shop (not common in most messy body shops) and Jamie and his brother are really nice guys, good to work with, very pleased with their past work.

-are you going same color? is so that is cheaper b/c you don't have to paint jams.
-do they have to do any body work.
-are you going for show paint or factory style.
-i think 3-5k is a good range for facotry style looks. i've priced my car already by good quality shops.

Up in the NE you can get an excellent same color repaint for $5k if no body work is required. $3k is not out of the question if you're not in a hurry, like in the spring or fall.

Since you drive the ^&%$## out of your car, there's not much reason to pay the big bucks for that show car look. The difference in price is in the details. 95% of the people, including a lot of "car" folks, couldn't really tell the difference between a well sanded and rubbed $4K job and a $10k job. Either one would be far better than the stock crappy paint job.

I've been told about 5k as well. I'm having to look at a repaint due to road chips on the hood and nose.......
On another subject that's kind of related, has anyone used the clear film stuff by 3M, a Lexus dealer here told me they can do my car for $600 and will get free replacement done when ever it needs it.

I figure if I have to repaint I don't want to have to do it again!!

No body work, no color change, just a repaint of the entire car due to chips here and there. The estimate I got was right at 4k. I think I may let Day's Chevrolet do it. I've seen some Corvettes painted there over the years and they all looked great.

I had my C4 repainted for about $4K total cost back in 2001 and it came out awesome. That cost included new badges, new weatherstrip, and other misc parts. The car did not need any body work. The most important part is the prep before hand and the work after the car comes out of the booth. No booth is totally sealed and your car will exit the booth with dust "nibs".

Mirrors should come off, head light buckets come off, light lenses come out, badges off, etc..

How many chips do you have? I would check with one of the paintless dent removal company in your area they will know a paint chip repair company...The guy I know uses a air brush to do touch up and once the chips are filled you can't see them at all............Just a thought... Good luck with your repair/repaint....................

But can this be done on a Black car?
I was told that Black can not be blended in.

Mine is Torch Red - but regardless of that, there's no way it'll look as good as a complete repaint, and that's what I'm doing.

My car is black. I've seen Quality touch up jobs before.......you couldn't tell where it was. If I could do that and put the $4-$5k in the car as mods instead, that would be great.

$4k to $6k. Someone needs to take accessories off, maybe fenders, etc. Probably painter.

Sounds exciting.
