For the letters, I covered them with chapstick. Once the paint dried up I wiped the letters off, then lightly ran a very fine sanding block (foam type) over the letters.
Am I reading your post correctly when you said that you painted the entire rotor? You said that your first braking cleaned off all the paint that needed cleaning, but didn't this foul up your brake pads? I'm curious to know!

Brush it on. 1 pink will give you 4 coats on all 4 calipers and leave plenty for touch ups over the years.
3 years and 15K miles on mine... Have only touched them up this year.

clean with a wire brush and brake cleaner first....
coat the raised letters with chapstick... paint over them. they use a sharp razor blade once you've finished the calipers and the paint on the letters slices right off...
Rustoleum Satin Black no clear.

I followed the same procedure.......worked great. Just a reminder, don't put the Chapstick back in your pocket when you're done!

Elbow grease, wire brushes and brake clean. I'm doing mine right now. I'm doing a very, very detailed write up also. I'll share the fun when I'm done.
