Broken mirror
I recently read on the forum the mirrors fold both ways. Good to know!
The very next morning as I was wiping the car with detail spray I touched and I mean touched the drivers mirror and it swung freely both ways!
I freaked!! Did a forum search and found a link to a fix on 97vette.com.
Man what a job!
I wanted to drive the vette, not fix the mirror. It was no small fix either, not what I wanted to do Sunday afternoon after doing the yard.
I lifted the mirror and applied....and I hate to admit it..........industrial strength VELCRO to the sucker at the base where it swivels.
Took it to the highway and it held at 75 mph.
I was able to cruise Sunday!!
Thought about just JB welding the damn thing and the hell with folding it ever.
Anyone else have this spring break loose? OPTIONS??
Duct tape could be an option the car IS PEWTER

It sounds as though someone broke your mirror at home and then stuck it back as best as they could and hoped you wouldn't notice. Whether it be your children, spouse, etc but that mirror just didn't all of a sudden break. 
I would take it to a repair shop and have it fixed correctly.

My wife said she did not do it. She is very adamant about it. No kids to blame either and I didn't break it.
Can't imagine how it could have broken since it is made to swing front to back.
