Do away with the stock runflats or buy a better quality runflat tire.

If you want run flats the Michelin Pilot Sport AS ZPs are a good improvement. If you can live without runflats there are a number of cheaper and quieter options out there.

Install some insulation under the carpet and get non-runflat tires.

You can search the threads on this topic. There has been alot of discussion on it and what can be done. One of the quickest, easiest and cheapest things you can do is by some fiberglass insulation (R-13) and fill up the three storage compartments with it. It will cut the noise volume down by at about half. I bought a roll at Home Depot for under $ 11.00 and made 3 layers per compartment. Huge difference.

I agree, the roads here are INCREDIBLY SMOOTH. I notice every time I go back to the Northeast! I thought my car rode nice, until I get out of the area!

If you go to Virginia, keep to the southern end. Up north the roads suck!!

If you are looking for a quick fix, just fill up the rear compartments with towels. It will help quite a bit. Then you can work on the insulation.

Insulate the wall behind the seats and inside the wheel wells.

Yep, I did the same thing and the noise reduction is amazing. A lot of the noise you are hearing is "resonance" that is created in those rear storage compartments. The fiberglass insulation has quite a dampening affect. Not only does it diminish road noise, it also reduces exhaust drone. Good luck!

I agree on replacing the runflats. Also install a partition, it will make a huge difference!

If you do a search there are a lot of threads on insulating the back of the car. Many do the entire rear cargo area and also under the seats and the console area. Supposed to make a huge difference, the only time it bothers me is on the interstate.
