I just checked again. I had found that my car has the FE1 in the list of codes, which I thought meant it has the base suspension only. I checked again and I found that it also has F45 in the list. do they usually have both in the list?
If I remember correctly in '99 they listed FE1 and F45 and sometimes they only listed one or the other. I know right. In other words you should have the F45. Maybe someone else will chime in and either correct me or say Im right.
I would like to know what he finds out about the shocks. If there is a very noticeable difference in the rides, it is something I will like to keep in mind while I am shopping for a C5. I have never been in a C5 or C6 and this forum helps....A LOT.
From my archives..... (and another member's post....
"If it's a Z06, it has an FE4 suspension. If its got a 3 position switch on the console, its an F45. Look on the sticker in your glovebox. It should list all the RPOs on the car. A base suspension will say FE1, while a Z51 will have FE3, as well as Z51. Including the FE4 on the Z06s, there are 4 suspensions available on 01 and later vettes. In 03 F55 replaced F45."
I looked in my glove box..does not say f45, it says FE1. I called my dad to see if his said F45 or F55. He said neither. I could have swore he said FE8, but that can't be it. I'll check with him again tomorrow.

From what Dave68 posted, looks like you have the base suspension.
So then you have the wimpy base springs and sway bars, but do have the adjutable shocks.
He has beefy springs(rear) bigger say bars by far, and stiffer shocks.

If his has non-runflats or the adjustable suspension, that would explain why. Get rid of your runflats, replace em with non-runflats (best=Goodyear GSD3s) and you will be AMAZED at the difference in ride!
Absolutely true. Like driving a different car. Also have GSD3s.
F45 is easily identified, on your center console, next to active handling, there will be a switch indicator, it says, "normal, sport, and perform" or something like that. You can move that switch and it will change the ride. No switch, no F45.
His car rides smoother. Neither car is lowered. You would think the Z51 suspension would be stiffer and ride a little rougher, but it rides better than mine. We both have about the same miles, but my shocks could have seen more "bumps" over the years. It just might be a shock issue, but there is definitely a very noticeable difference. Both vehicles are in remarkable condition, and I seriously doubt have ever been abused.
