Ruff Racing Wheels
Any help....The rims all seem to be 19" and the only tires I see that fit are Nankang.....Anyone have these tires? The Whole Package is $1,600.00 shipped.....with the tires mounted and balanced....
I don't autocross or anything but I don't want super crap tires.....They look HOT.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!
Rich

Wheels are Ruff Racing 278 Hyper Black in 19" x 9.5" 45mm offset sizes all around.
Rubber is BFG KDW2's - Rear 295/35/19 - Front 255/35/19

The offset's work great, both front and rear are exactly flush with the car.
I went for 19's up front and 20's out back and I'm glad I did as they make the car sit really nicely. My car is lowered on stock bolts and I have had no issues with speed ramps etc.
For the rubber I have 245/35/19 Continental Sport Contact 2's on the front and 285/30/20 Pirelli PZero Asymmetrico's on the back.
Here's some pics:

The 20" rears are 10J which I am led to beleive that one "J" unit is slightly larger than an inch, so these rears should be a minimum of 10"'s??
Anyone know the technicalities here?
I have no experience with nankang, but would not expect them to hook up well, might consider buying the wheels alone and picking the tires that you feel best suit your goals.
I just bought my first vette (first GM for that matter) havent seen the car in person as its all the way across the country. Its got stock chrome wagon wheels and I think Ill end up selling my RUFF 278's, buy some RUFF 279's and mount my tires up on them. I havent seen any Vettes with the 279's, it will be a different look, but should look good on a pewter FRC.
Two things to consider.
One is the weight, I dont know the exact numbers but I do know that these wheels are significantly heavier than HRE's, CCW's, and even replica wheels.
Two is that these wheels are not going to have the quality finish of an expensive wheel. There will be noticeable 'orange peel' on the face of the wheel and the lip is not nearly as polished as more expensive wheels.
If your not overly concerned about rotating mass and your not expecting a perfect finish, IMO you cant go wrong for the money.
Best of luck!

:EDIT: You also need to consider that anything looks good on a SALEEN, so dont let the manufacturers rendering fool you

where did you gus buy yours from?
Also do you have to stagger the rims sizes? what does that do?
What would happen if I put 18" on all the way around?
Thanks,
Rich

Remember there is a billion peopleout there wearing nikes! Do want you want and not what the next
person wants!
BTW - I can't believe the 278's are heavier than the chrome plated C5's I run right now. 18x9.5 on the front (53-lbs for 1 wheel/tire) and 18x10.5 on the rear.

There is was a shortage on mine as well, in fact the first 2 wheels I got were defective and I had to send back, I got the last 2 wheels. They said they were backordered for a month or so.
Anyone who gets these wheels, make sure you get hubcentric rings, You will need them
Mike
Thanks, yes the car does get dirtier on the sides easier now, but I love the way it looks.
Actually, the car rides 100x better than the stock wheels and rubber, I have less of the car following grooves in the road for some reason, I would have thought it would have been alot worse also.
The traction is alot better also, I felt like my car is almost slower now because of how good these tires hook up.
Mike
You need to know what size the opening is to fit the ring into and the tire shop (i used discount tire) will know what size to fit on the car.
For my sizes it was 73mm for the wheels, not sure what it was for the car. cost me $15.98 at discount tire for them to get them for me
