I understand the reasoning but in Florida they allow bikers to ride without a helmet and a second person holding on for dear life , are they really that caring a group or is it just another form of harrassment.Seems to me that they don't care how many people on bikes are at risk. When the automobile makers put a five point harness in with properly adjusted controls then you will convince me it should be enforceable. The seatbelts in any car today are at best a bandaid for real safety. If they were that good why did they add all of these air bags all over my new car but the seatbelt design is as old as the hills. How does a handicapped or obese person handle the cross over belts? Seems like a center latching system would be a better choice.
Lastly why do the leos only do this during Holidays I guess they could care less the rest of the time.Still wearing mine under protest!

In my younger 'cycle days (I wrenched at a Harley Davidson Dealer) I used the statement "The only people that wear a helmet are the ones with something worthwhile to protect."

Actually, you might want to leave that seat belt off, it will give the cop another easy out if you happen to get pulled over again for the tinting...

Just got my 97 vert 2 weeks ago. End of week one, got a ticket for going 85. He put it down to 84 which is quite a relief, but still sucks. Is that going to mess up my insurance a lot? Im paying about 700 every 6 months, just turned 25.

Speaking from a law enforcement officer stand point, honesty and just a little common courtesy will get you out of a lot of tickets! Most cops know guys that have Vettes have worked hard to get where they are at and aren't stupid when it comes to driving their babies! I hate to admit it, but the "attitude test" does exist! Your honest answers got you out of a tints citation I guarantee that, but other posts are right "Ticket and Click It" is going on right now so that is why you got the seatbelt ticket! Please just be safe!

You Lucky DOG! I got pulled over on I-81 on Tuesday, for my tints and soft, light blue license plate covers on my Mustang. My tints were 16%, and I have to remove the side window tints, plate covers, and send pictures to the court and they will dismiss charges. Seeing I was in a pack of cars and doing 72 mph on I-81, I'm not complaining, he didn't say a word about speed. Virginia must of had a big crack down on vehicle equipment as well as seatbelts, this past weekend. I'm hardcore on seatbelts, they've saved my life/face twice in wrecks I've had in the past.

Always buckle up!

You should have offered to pay more for the ticket
because you were driving a Corvette.

When the seat belt law came out, I was as stubbon as a mule not to wear it.
Afterall, I was driving for 20 years, and a few really serious smashes.
Like, complete totalled, what kinda' car was it.
But now, 10 years down the line, I always buckel up.
I must have had an angel sitting on my shoulders in them days.
I should have been dead 3 times, but just walked away with scratches an small glass cuts.
Since wearing the seatbelt, I haven't even had a scrape, how weired is that !!!
When I have a bump, it is a good one, so I will wear my belt.
It's just a matter of time till we all get knocked by some one else perhaps,
