Yup, to cap off my 3 day weekend, I get pulled over yesterday. He asked if I knew what percentage the tint was. "Uh, no". Clips on the tint gauge and it reads 13%. We both laughed.
"We're you wearing your seatbelt back there?"
"Uh, no"
"I'm going to let the tint go by, but I'll have to give you a ticket for the seatbelt."
"No problem, I understand"
The cop was really polite and friendly and just doing his job. My own fault. However, he never did tell me to remove the tint. I think he "overlooked" it and just did the seatbelt ticket. He also never mentioned the blackouts. Guess I'll just roll the dice again........with my seatbelt on.
you would have been better off getting the tint ticket, as its not a moving violation, and the insurance co's dont really care. But get enough seat belt tickets and It could bite you...ask me how I know
I usually do. I ran to the store(2 miles away). Speed limit is 25, in which I obeyed. I didn't bother with the seat belt. Live and learn.
Please buckle up. Research shows (and we all know research doesn't lie) that most accidents happen within 25 miles of home.
Recent news report shows 80% of Americans use seat belts, while only 63% of TV shows depict use. Something about it takes away from the dramatic moment if CSI agents buckle up or unbuckle during a scene. Such is life---pun intended.
I got pulled over last week in my c5.Asked for liscense which I couldn't find registration also couldn't find and the insurance card also mia and to top it off no front plate.Trooper let me go to my surprise after seeing me pull out of work while on the phone. The luckiest day of my year so far.

Seatbelts do save lives. I center punched a power pole at 60+ during a pursuit. Drove the engine under the car and had the push bars touching each other on the other side of the steel power pole. I got bruised knees, waist and my helmeted head hit the windshield. I was able to still exit and catch the suspect on foot.
Nowdays the first click you hear in my C-5 is the belt locking and then the key in the ignition. Also it helps to snug up the belt with auto adjust seats.
Nice officer, glad he didn't have you pull the tint. Do I like seatbelt laws? No, I hate being told what to do. Do I use a seatbelt? Yup, everytime I get in the car. I'm an independent sort, not the stupid sort.
Yeah people like to trash cops due to their job duties but there are plenty of nice cops out there, when you consider it is his duty to wright you that ticket, you should consider your self pretty luck when you get out of any infraction. I used up my one free pass when I was younger and got my first street bike, I was heading out to the track and got pulled over doing 137mph in a 50 zone out in the middle of no where and the chp let me off with a fix it ticket for no mirrors. That was like xmas, bday, ect all wrapped up into one.
Must have been the weekend for it. Got one (no seat belts) as I stopped at a red light before pulling into a grocery store parking lot. Just took it off for a second to pull my cell phone out of my pocket.
Ohio State Trooper looked at me, pulled in behind me as I buckled back up and lit me up.
No excuses and he of course did not give me a break. The town where I live gets the bucks ($81.00). Had it been out of the road in a county it's $25. Always wear it. If I'd taken it off a second later in the privat property of the grocery store I would have been legal and he had the gnads enough to tell me that.
Guess retired military purple heart plates on Memorial Day weekend don't mean $hit to some people. He was doing his job, but he had nos sense of humor.
Sounds like he gave you a break. I doubt he was even allowed to give a break on the seatbelt ticket. The government is really going overboard on the "Click it or Ticket" campaign. They set up a couple of roadblocks near me this weekend. What a waste of time and money! When traffic is already bad, they have to make it worse w/ the roadblocks!
