Default Kewl Auto is not Cool

As a matter of fact, their service and delivery leaves a lot to be desired. I placed an order for a license plate surround on 4/26/07. I don't have it.

I emailed them more than once and got the following response on 5/15/07.

Larry, Spiral is going out by week's end.

Greg

Hi,
any update on the status or ship date of my order?

Thanks,
Larry
I am posting this to warn other folks when considering them for business. I am also going to send them an email with a link to this thread. I would love to hear their comments as they don't respond to voice or emails.

Wow, Larry, that's too bad. I know you were looking forward to this, too..

I'll scratch this off my "good vendor" list, thanks

I was going to put the piece on to improve the look as I am adding the front plate. Rumor has it the Texas DPS is cracking down on front plate violations.

Yeah,
I'm sure others have had problems as well. I just have a hard time with their total lack of customer support.

Yup. If MSG were sold in a rattle can, I would do it myself. This can not be too difficult to paint. Hard to imagine that a company could not paint one and ship it in a timely manner.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I had a short wait but put it down to the time taken to ship to England.

All I'm gonna say about Greg and Kewl are 3 words...

NEVER... EVER... EVER... period.

When I posted my story about how he told me my parts were going to be painted the day after I ordered... and then 6 weeks later told me he didn't even have my parts yet.... I just canceled my order.

I remember seeing you had ordered from them... all I could do was thinking about what you were gonna go thru Larry....

Sorry about what you're going thru... I think the title of that Thompson Twins song from the 80's sums it up... it was called, "Lies, lies, lies"

Someone (I'm not gonna say who)... took that literally.

Wow! Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Imust have been one of the lucky ones. A couple of years ago, right after I bought my C5, I ordered the front surround in DBGM and got it within 7-10 days. Sorry to hear their service has gotten so bad. I guess I will stop recommending them...

I guess things change, I bought some things from KEWL a few years ago, never had a problem and am very satisfied with everything.

I bought some fender covers earlier this year and got a quick delivery and the parts were excellent. Sad that others are having trouble with them.

I ordered a rattle can of LMB from a local GM dealer when I was painting my FRC's. Took 2-3 days, a perfect match, and about $15 for the paint and a can of clear.

Where is this rumor coming from? I heard that some places in TX they could be absolute ****** about this, but I haven't seen this around Austin.

I didn't put the front plate on my DD because you have to drill holes in the bumper to install it. I do run a front plate on my vette because with all my other mods, it will give them one fewer reason to pull me over.

Greg and Kewl have been nothing short of awesome with me - even when one of my pieces changed colors after a year they replaced it with no questions and NO issues. Sorry to hear about your problem - i will still recommend them, maybe they are just having a bad spell.

Greg - you still rock

I have watched these posts lately, and before the flame throwers start - I too am among those waiting for an order to be completed.

I know things have been rough lately, and there is room for them to improve the way they're handling this situation, but let's remember that Kewl is not some big, nameless company. If I am correct they are a 4 person operation with limited capacity. I believe they can only paint 5 different colors in a day, and I suspect a large part of the huge numbers of orders they've received this year are for a few common colors, leaving people who's orders are not for those common colors back logged waiting for them to get a chance to do that color.

I hope they are able to get through this current workload bump and get back on track, as we have seen many of our small business partners go out of business, leaving us with fewer options, which I do not think is what we want.

So, I would suggest that if you want to order something from them, that you do so with your eyes open. Tracy and Greg do answer the phone, but you may not get them every time you call - they are most likely dealing with other customers when they do not answer your call - not out in the back yard sipping on a cold frosty beverage. Like anyone else, they are trying their best to do a good job, and they do have a history of providing great products and service to us - they're just swamped right now.

Default waiting is the hardest part

My order took almost 6 months to complete...was getting ready to initiate cc chargeback when it magically appeared. The products are top notch......just the waiting....and waiting....and waiting

Have to say first of all when you get the stuff it looks great....but yeah the waiting is nuts......if you are not in a hurry then yeah....but unfortunately the time promised and the time delivered are not the same....FWIW they do all the painted pieces you see in MidAmerica etc.....so if you think you can go around them and order elsewhere you would be wrong.

Never one to bash a vendor and like I said the product is awesome...but the time from order to delivery can be ridiculous at times....
