After owning my C5 for about 4 months and observing people's reaction to it, I am convinced that it is the car's styling that appeals most to people.
It doesn't seem to matter if it is an 8 year old boy, or an 80 year old grandma, they are all intrigued by the C5's styling. They have no idea how much horsepower it has, or how it handles, or how much fun it is to drive or anything else at all about the car except that it looks "fascinating".

Just my observations so far. Any comments?
It is the styling that stands out. Park your Vette next to another car, say a Stang. No comparison. The Vette just styling just jumps out.

To the bystander the first appeal that catches their eye is styling yes - but what really makes the car so appealing is the name CORVETTE. Once people figure out what they are looking at is a Corvette, they all know something about it, whether it's name that is associated with speed, high style, sexy body, whatever.
Last night driving only 10 minutes to see my buddy's band play I had a guy in a Civic tell me, "Man that sounds nasty... don't beat up on me too bad." Then a few minutes later an older gentleman rolled down his window to ask me what year it was and tell me he thought it was beautiful.
Sure are fun cars... allthough I prefer when it's the ladies flashing *****... which happens once every few months too.
I was pumping gas in the vette last weekend and an older gentleman in a older pickup truck stopped perpendicular to the front of the vette and yelled out his passenger window, "That's a beautiful Corvette, Son" and gave me the as he pulled away. Made me smile.

Yes The corvette side view running from the front bumper, over the front wheel well, across the door and over the rear wheel well to the rear bumper, reminds me of a Nude painting of the back of a woman laying on the ground.
I walked into our local Quiznos Sub shop last sunday afternnoon. The owner is about a 60 yr old Boznian immigrant woman, and that's the first thing she said to me when I walked in, "I really like your car, that's beautiful", then turned to her son who was making sandwiches and commented to him about it.
i think all the above is right. for me and alot of others iv always liked corvettes since i was a kid. like alot of others i always wished i had one. now i do. number two. in my opinion the c5 is the sleekest with a cool factor to the 10th power.
C5s are a car that makes a statement where ever you go, its style is timeless in that it was so much different and improved over the previous model. GM got it right and really did not break the mold all the way with the C5 1/2 that replaced it
Its a 2 seater expensive sports car. THere just arent a lot of them :-) Its an indulgence item that not a lot of people have but everyone wishes they could afford :-)
Vettes turn heads, but drive a ferrari down the street it'll stop traffic. Same reason great scale.

i dont know about you but it seems my vette has slowed traffic. does that count? you can always tell the way they will ride about half your car behind scoping it out then pass. its a trip. but come to think of it i use to do that befor i got mine.
The Corvette is legendary and is "the" only true American made sports car. Throughout it tenure the Corvette has wow'd the masses and has been able to compete against its top tired rivals.
Another important aspect is cost. How many folks can afford a Ferrari or Lamborghini, I'm certain not many, where as the Corvette is still priced within reach of most American incomes.
