Default Newb Question

Hey Ya'll, looking to get my 2nd C5 this sunday well 1st C5 doesn't count as I only had it for 2 weeks...that's another story. Anyways, I have been trying to gather as much info as I can on these beautiful cars and have ordered a Noah car cover (car unfortunately will sit in my driveway, garage is full of motorcycles ) a CLB, FattDaddys and now contemplating on rocker rail protectors...my question is do I need jack pucks, my good buddy has a shop with a lift so do I need these or can they put the lift arms on the cross members, sorry for the newb question but I've never seen a vette on a lift, just my good ol Honda. thanks!

You can jack up on the rocker rails. Mine from A&A don't let you use the pucks although the Elite Engineering ones do.

You can jack under the frame in any case. Here's a diagram that'll help

Congratulations on your C5 purchase and welcome to the Forum.

You don't need pucks IF his lift has small pop up pads AND you can position them so you don't touch rocker panels OR you can use small blocks of wood. Alot of people make cheap pucks by putting a screw eye through a hockey puck.

I bought the solid aluminum ones, I didn't like flexing of rubber ones.

From what I have seen, the rocker rails allow you to place a jack pad on them and lift the car. Anyway, congrats on the C5.

I got my C5 two weeks ago. I have a 4 post Rotary lift in the garage. I bought the pucks ($49.95). They make putting the car on the lift a lot safer. Only problem is that with the pucks extending out from the frame under the car, you will probably need to drive the car up on a set of 1X6 pieces of wood in order to get the arms under the pucks because the car is so low already.

Anyway, I think the pucks are the way to go...so that you don't crack the fiberglass. This is because the fiberglass wraps under the car and around the frame. There is only a very small opening in the fiberglass where the lift can make contact with the frame. If you don't hit it right...you will crack the fiberglass.

Lifting pucks were my first purchase. Safety first.

Check out Elite Engineering. Great product and great people to deal with.
