To be honest I do not know where you can "validate" this information as far as written documentation. Like I said before the proof would be to put it in Comp Mode, hit reset then light up your tires. I have done this several times so I know it works.
The manual is pretty vague and general when it comes to the little nuances of these cars, that is why this forum is so valuable when it comes to sharing information. FYI, Mike Mercury is very knowledgeable when it comes to these cars and has helped many of us here on the forum. You can take his advice to the bank...
You asked a question and we answered it. You then stated we were incorrect, when in fact you were wrong.
We deal with facts here. There's plenty of people with expertise within certain aspects of the C5... to where we no longer need to "guess" or create a fact based on common sense -type- deductive reasoning. So when someone comes on here and challenges a known fact... then this person has earned the responses.
and it was you "Blue260" that took the first cheap shot by telling us we were incorrect. Because of this, you are not in a position to be pointing fingers at others and complaining about their responses.
You didn't say "how can that be because..." or "I'm not certain that is right" - you flat out told us we were incorrect.
If you want the truth; if you're dedicated to learning the facts... then CorvetteForum.com is the place to be. IF you think that your doube-doctorate degrees allow you to invent facts that should never be questioned - then I'd find another place to learn more about your Corvette.

If I want to do a major burnout, just shut off the traction completely.
If you want to autocross and/or trans am type racing this is why gm engineered as such.
If I want to be a little spirited in my street driving the traction control does not hinder any performance. If the wheels are spinning - your not moving foward! I have the 3.15 rear, and with a hard take off at a light or stop sign I get limited spin and great traction with a whole lot of forward movement.
I simply don't talk in absolutes - unless I know the facts.
And you'll see that CF members will offer opinions or report unsubstanciated facts, but they will make certain their response is worded such..."I read somewhere that..."
or "a trusted mechanic friend told me..."
you're so occupied in telling others how their behavior isn't suitable that IMO you never spent the needed time to polished your own skillz yet.

Your not missing anything. When I had my 99 it was only good in the rain on a road course. After having a 01 Z06 and a 99 that had it I personally think the feature is designed for the rookie drivers and to test for future cars. My 2007 Tahoe has the same AI built in.
I think I made it more then clear that I may have chosen my words and/or statement prematurely.
While reading your post I realized how apparent it was that I put my foot in my mouth.
But to say pointing fingers or challenging unvalidated statements is a cheap shot. What assumptions are "you" reading into!
But as I read your last sentence I see that it is you that must have the last parting sarcastic statement. It is you that must make sure incorrect people are put in their proper places.
Mike, I don't give a crap who you are, what you do, or what you know.
And, since when have you become the "Gatekeeper" on whether or not I should find another forum.
This is what I need you to do:
#1, gather up all the pencils in your home, work (if you do), and nerd pack.
#2, snap the erasers off as it is more than apparent that the great guru doesn't make mistakes.
I have an idea, let's get back to the topic at hand. It is obvious that there are some people who will not see eye to eye on every topic or style of response. Personal attacks will just denigrate this thread into a lockdown.

Dave - take a look at the RPO sticker that is on the driver's side cargo compartment lid (or is it on the passenger side....I forget!) Look for RPO JL4 in the list. If it's there, you have it.

It defaults on.
AH is the default, not Comp Mode. If I understand his question correctly he wants to know how to keep Comp Mode on all the time. The only way I know is with the link Mike provided for Laptrax.

I misunderstood the question and you are probably right. And as far as Tim's suggestion for LapTrax, it's the only solution of which I am aware.
