Hey guys,

I recently had some bad experiences on Ebay, just wanna share with you guys, and maybe get some advice.

I bought a magnet oil plug for the oil pan from Ebay. It was being sold for about $3.49 + shipping. Total $6.98. I got a US Postal email, with a tracking number...but it said this does not gaurantee the seller has really shipped the item. It only shows the seller got a tracking number, and they may or may not actually ship the item. That's exactly what happened. I have a tracking number, but no shipping info. I was supposed to recived it in 2-5 days. Now, its been 18 days, no reply to my emails and no response on their end. And they are "Power Sellers".

Another transaction: Even worse. I bought a bag of 25 Microfiber towels, for $25. I have not received any info from them. I sent several emails, not info, no email, and no response what so ever from them . I have reported both of them to Paypal. A dispute is open, but that's all ....

I've always had good experiences in the past, but am scared to do anymore business on Ebay now... What are my options?

Don't really know what your options are, but I also do a lot of ebay transactions. I do suggest to check seller's feedback and read some comments before bidding though

As far as the oil plug. The Postal Service e-mail only means the seller had the Postal Service generate a label and doesn't mean it has been shipped yet, Just proposed and postage paid. Nothing will be trackable until it's delivered (delivery conformation) However, 18 days without any returned communication is not good and doesn't sound like a power seller. What's the seller's feedback like? Both eBay AND the Postal Service aren't what they used to be (I'm retired Postal Service and the Wife's still in) with that said I hope your auctions arrive soon.

I know of a coworker who just got ripped off on eBay for $3500. He worked out a great deal with the guy, developed a good repor with him and send a check, (thinking if the deal goes sour, he can simply cancel the check., the guy provided a tracking number and said to give it a few days. Nothing happen, guy is not around and a big Poof to $3500.
So....consider yourself semi-lucky. But to me, its not the money, its the principle. Stay ontop of eBay and Paypal and have them work their magic for you. Let the Sellers know you are filing a complaint and will leave Negative Feedback if they do not resolve by a deadline. If they are power sellers and have accounts with Paypal, Paypal SHOULD be able to withdrawel from their account and refund your money. If they do, make sure you leave Negative Feedback so others will know to stay away from these people.
Good Luck ...Rocket

Default eBay Sucks

After taking extreme measures to protect my identity on eBay & PayPal, I discovered my accounts had been hacked resulting in $10K in fraudulent transactions. Took two months & legal threats to clear my name...................

If you paid with paypal I think they will work it out for you, you have to file something with them, I don't know the specifics, check their site if you used them. Other than that I would guess you could contact Ebay and find out your other options.

Default ____Ebay Scams____

Here's the U.S. Postal tracking number I got # 9101 1288 8230 0913 9191 15.

Here are both the vendors & websites I bought from. Here's the vendor selling Magnetic Oil Plug for LS1's. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320115780822 THIS vendor is supposed to be a POWER SELLER with all good Feedback... I wonder, whats up with them...

AND here are the Microfiber towels I NEVER got - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=130112570731

I've sent both the vendors emails, and given them another 2 days to get back to me (being a nice guy), after that I'll escalate this to a Claim from a dispute.

Sorry for you problems, but just an FYI, the magnetic plug retails for $3.05 at your Chevy dealer. Just because it's on eBay doesn't make it a deal.
Hope everything gets resolved satisfactorily.

And you tell me this NOWWww... Anyways, does anyone know a way to contact Ebay and report these guys? I have filed a dispute with Paypal, but wanna let Ebay know about it also. Its not about the money, cuz its not really That much, I can survive. But the fact that its now scared me to pay others on Ebay now. And its also a bad feeling when someone just "simply cheats" you. They're probably laughing at guys like me, who got suckered into their scams.

Thanks for your inputs...

A word to the wise -

Paypal is a company created By Ebay for Ebay. They profit when money is transfered and don't care about the buyer or seller. (I've been on both ends of a dispute with worst-case-senario conclusions)

As a buyer: the only way to protect yourself is to use your credit card. The credit card company will take your side in a dispute provided you give them all the correct information and are honest with them. (plus when you use your CC you build up your credit rating) Since i got my credit card, I have only had one time where i needed to use the complaint dept...actually i didn't have to really use it, but simply informing the seller i would call my CC company seemed to move along my refund.

As a seller: Until you get the money for your stuff, you're not garrunteed anything. I'd avoid paypal completely and accept only checks/money orders or local pickups. The good news here is you're not out anything if the buyer flakes. If you encounter a stubborn buyer who makes a false claim against you the most they can do is give you bad feedback which you can post a response to on your ebay feedback for others to view.

Good Luck ...Rocket

Don't rely on paypal. Their customer service is a joke for both buyers and sellers. I sold a cell phone on ebay, some yokel from Singapore just sends me $300 via paypal. I knew it was bogus, so I called paypal and told them. They stopped payment from the legitimate buyer. I spent hours on the phone trying to get it straightened out. no luck . 10 months later, they deduct $300 and charge me $40. I was out over $50, because paypal charges the seller and I was not paid the full $300. I also bought a Borla XR-1 system from a reputable site outside of ebay. The seller sent me just the xpipe and would not send the rest of the parts. Paypal left me in the lurch because they don't guarantee the contents of goods bought outside of ebay. Luckily I paid paypal with AMEX and they did make it right

Long story short, paypal has terrible customer service and I would not rely on them to protect me at all.
