I bought a '99 C5 with 24,700 miles last october. It is an awesome car. It has memory, dual a/c, hud, etc.Everything has worked perfectly, but in reading posts on the dreaded battery leakage & not being to able to verify the age of the ac delco battery in the car I decided to error on the side of caution & replaced the battery with a brand new ac delco from a GM dealer back in March of this year. All was well even though I was only able to drive the car every other week because of weather or other commitments. However the last time I drove it was about 5 weeks ago & when I went to start it today I put the key in & the memory function work as it should & all the dash lights did every thing they always do but the starter just clicked & would not turn the engine over. I put a charger on it & sure enough it needed a charge. After this long winded explanation my question is do these cars normally drain a battery from sitting, do I have an unintentional drain somewhere or did I get a bum battery from the dealer? Thanks for any input

C5s require a lot of electrical engergy and need to be driven to keep the battery charged - 5 weeks in the garage will discharge even the best batteries.
Get a trickle charger, disconnect, or drive her more.
