I took the ashtray out, and my alarm "field disturbance sensor" is mounted in there.
This creates a field "bubble" all around the 'vette (convertible) so o.k. if some one just walk past, but if you stop, it go's into "warn-away"

Remote control to select presets for my 31 band EQ I have different presets depending on windows up, windows down/top up, top off/windows down, and top off/windows down/vent masters in place

My buddy mounts his XM receiver in there. I haven't done it yet - but I am considering it. I have a homelink visor which handles the garage opening duties.

I cut off the back side of the oem ashtray and attached my garage door opener on the opening. It's a CHAMBERLAIN opener and pretty small in comparison to many openers.

Have seen people use that area for the install of an XM radio. Guess you could use it for a miscellaneous storage area too.
