Default Fog Light Question...

What is the easiest way to get access to the fog lights? I was checking the search and didn't find the answer. Do you have to lift the headlights up and take off the black plastic piece surrounding the clear plastic piece which houses the lights themselves, or is there another way?

Edit: I'm at the foglights, and now I'm trying to adjust them upwards. Pics on 3rd discussion.

Thats the way I do it

The other option is to unscrew the panel under the front and go in from below

The main reason I'm in there is to move the foglights upwards. Right now they're facing about 30 degrees down on both sides, however, I'm not sure how to adjust them and move them so they're facing straight. I may be missing a piece on both sides, unless the adjustment is in the middle of that rectangular box next to the fog light which is in front of the spring... here's a pic:

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Bracketman -

Thge adjuster is a torx t15 - you just go straight in from the front - look at it and you can see the adjuster.

best regards -

Thanks DeeGee and MQQN!!

Problem that I'm seeing now is that my fog lights aren't actually touching the front - have no idea how since about a month ago they were??

They're BOTH sitting roughly an inch away from the black plastic piece that they are supposed to be touching, and I haven't hit anything??

Hi Bracketman -

On our coupe, the projector does not touch the surround part of the fascia. The lights are inset a bit.

When we bought the coupe, the fogs lights were pointing down at the limits of the adjustment - and that was not putting light in front of the car at all.

After adjusting them properly, I can use the fog lights as headlights at dusk and leave the headlights "down" until it get darker.

It is all plastic under there - so look for cracks or tears etc - I am sure you have. There are a slew of 7 or 8 mm hex head screws holding it all together - and there is an access panel on each side that can be removed to get to the back of the light (looks like you already discovered that lol....)

best regards -

Re aim them and replace the 37 watt bulbs with 50 watt ones, #885 or 855 (I'm not sure which one it is). I use mine all the time with my low beams (just leave the switch on), no problems in over 3 years.

Fog Lamp Aiming Procedure
The front fog lamps must be aimed for proper illumination of the road. The front fog lamp aim should be checked at least once a year, when a new bulb is installed, when a new fog lamp assembly is installed, or if service or repairs in the front end area may have disturbed the fog lamp mounting.

There is no horizontal adjustment for aiming the front fog lamp assemblies on this vehicle.

To ensure accurate vertical front fog lamp aiming, first perform the following steps to prepare the vehicle.
Verify that all the components are in place on the vehicle, if other service has been performed on the vehicle.
Verify that the fuel level is 1/2 full or less.
Place the vehicle on a level surface 7.6 m (25 ft) away from a target screen.
Stop all other operations of work on the vehicle.
Jounce the vehicle to settle the suspension.
Cover the headlamps while aiming the fog lamps.

Aim so that top of fog light pattern touches bottom of low beams.

Turn the front fog lamps ON.
Insert a TORX® driver through the front fascia deflector access hole to reach the fog lamp vertical adjustment screw.
Adjust the fog lamp up or down until the top edge of the high intensity zone on the screen is 102 mm (4 in) below the horizontal centerline (2).
Turn OFF the front fog lamps.

Get down at the front of the car at the fog light housing. Facing the lights. On the drivers side at the Fog Light you will see a small hole size of a pencil or a tiny bit smaller at the middle right side. Insert a # 15 Torx driver into the small torx screw inside . It runs thru the center of that spring you see in the picture. Turn clockwise to raise the level and counter clockwise to lower. No need to take anything apart. Can be done with screens on also. Hope this helps...
