The skill of the rider more than anything else, if he can ride the bike well you will never catch him. Alot of guys with sportbikes can not ride them to their full potential, me being one of them
Yes...power to weight.. Most bikes are in the lower part of 100 hp range and weigh approximately a fifth of the Vette. Fifth of the hp (owner has 520rwhp) and fifth of the weight...I'm sorry, what was your argument again?
Be careful with that, several bikes out there pushing the 150-160 mark and weigh in around 400lbs. Im not sure I would take that challenge with a 999 or the new 1098, those bikes will tear up the twisties. as someone already said they have a broad powerband and will come out of those corners like mad.

I agree with that. However, I did say MOST bikes. Plus, the bike weighs 400, but then add the rider, too. My only point here was that people are quick to say "duh, weight to HP ratio!" when the ratio really isn't that much off! I would certainly be left in the dust against even the most amateur rider! And if I was riding, I'd probably lose against the modded Vette! I have commitment issues...just can't commit to slamming my knees on those corners!
I was watching a SRT10 playing with anyone that would pull up, but when I sat beside him with my Busa, he just smiled and shook his head. He knew better.
My Busa stock is 168hp, the 08 coming out is 200. The Vette will have no chance, any length of race, any course.
I have been riding bikes for 35+ years, and hands down the Busa is the fastest thing I have ever seen on the ground. The funny part is, throw a Vette in the loop with twin turbo's or a s/c, then along comes a 700 hp turbo Busa, and again, game over.
Like I said before, I want a Vette to slow down for a while.
Man... You guys keep talking about power power power... The OP said it's not a straightline race! This will be a driver's race, with the car having the advantage through tight corners, and the bike with the drive-out acceleration...
videos wish we had a place in California where ordinary people could get on a track like that. I would love to take my Corvette or bike on the Autobahn or Nurburgring.
Also, go to vettetube.com. It's a site of NOTHING but vette videos. There are several of Vettes running against various bikes. Once again, you'd be surprised of some of the outcomes.....
1. Skill of Drivers
2. Tires- I ran race rubber on my Suzuki - you know you had a good time when you looked at the tires and the little rubber ***** made it up to the tire bead.
3. This is on the street- If you have any brains you can only drive at 80% of the bikes ability. Blind corners, gravel, sand, etc. and the bikes back end steps over a foot or so.
4. On coming traffic- need to stay in lane.
5. 60 plus miles on the street-at speed- you deserve each other- just don't kill any innocents.
6. Find a racing corvette club in your area, and go to a track, and let it all hang out.
7. I had a couple of friends try to keep up with me. One even went to racing school and started road racing. I won't say he was faster than me- just dumber- he had no margin for error. I stopped riding with him because I didn't want to see him killed. Nothing like running 120 down a country road and have a farmer pull out of the fields onto the road. Exciting.
No contest. Specs on my bike when stock:
Avg 200yd acceleration from 50 mph, terminal speed, 5th gear; 90.9 mph. 'dont need much of a straightaway. Braking distance is about half of the Vette. I love the Vette, but acceleration on the bike is like warp speed.
My buddy has a Ducati. I have a Supercharged 2001 Z with 520rwhp. There is a windy road (63 miles long) local to both of us. Hypothetically speaking, could he lose me if he wanted to (assuming both are decent drivers)?
Easily. The horsepower to weight ratio is way better than a vette.
