Default Motorcycle versus Vette

My buddy has a Ducati. I have a Supercharged 2001 Z with 520rwhp. There is a windy road (63 miles long) local to both of us. Hypothetically speaking, could he lose me if he wanted to (assuming both are decent drivers)?

We need more info. For those of us not familiar with Ducatis please provide some more detailed specs. Also what are the mods to your Z06? A bike will not always get the best of a Vette in the twisties. Do a search for some of jdsblownc5’s videos. He "runs down" bikes in the twisties with his Vette.

If he makes it to the finish lilne he will win. But you have a much better chance of surviving the race.

As someone who owns both a Corvette(Z06) and a motocycle, the bike will win in the twisties. That is the only type of riding I do, and I can carry much more speed into and out of a turn on my bike, than I can in the vette. Don't get me wrong, the Vette handles like it's on rails but compared to a bike, it won't win.

Well, it depends. If it is a decently powered duc like this one:

It will be up to the drivers. The bikes capabilities will far exceed the cars, especially in the corners.

Now if it is this duc:

You may win.

The duck will disappear quickly. It will accelerate out of the corners a whole lot faster than you and reach a higher terminal speed in between the corners. He's also stopping a lot less weight than you and will have the braking advantage.

Sorry.

don't try it trust me , you'll need close to 800 hp to hang with anytype of bike bigger then a liter. Don't ask how I know

This isn't a straight line.

Through a windy road, a high performance car (with a GOOD driver) will out do a sportbike. It's all about traction. Two tiny contact patches for a bike vs four FAT ones on the car.

Ultimately it will come down to the rider as well. I've seen excellent riders with 400-600cc bikes absolutely kill "average to good" riders on literbikes (road/track courses... again not straight liner)

When it comes to bikes its 80% rider, 20% bike. Unless you are drag racing in a straight line or something. The difference between a Duc and a Honda of similar power output is basically price and prestige. There is about a fraction of one percent of all riders that have the skill to really get 100% out of a duc.... it probably isn't your friend.

Hypothetically speaking as you stated... its a drivers/riders race.

Heres a Gallardo vs a Duc (TRACK race) Click HERE Pretty much dead even with a professional rider.

i've had 2 encounters with bikes, one 600 one 900, both pulled up next to me on the highway and nodded me aheah, starting at 60 they pulled on me for a couple seconds and I reeled them both in pretty quick. I was absolutely stunned, but i put them behind me. Bikes do this with me a lot actually, dozens of times, only twice I took them up on it due to long straight highway ahead with nobody else in sight.

That video surprised the hell out of me

Prior to seeing it, I would have put money on the bike to walk away with it.
