I just had windshield replaced today. I told Allstate and the girl @ their recommended glass shop specifically that I want a genuine GM Z06 windshield. I even wrote down everything it said it the corner of the windshield and read it to her. She said they would get the same one. So I just picked up the car and in the corner it has the PY logo and than says AS1 M848and than something else. So not only is it not a Z06 windshield but not even a genuine Corvette Coupe windshield. It's a frikkin cheap Chinese knock-off! CLEARLY NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!? The place is called One-Stop auto glass in medford, NY. The one good thing is the install looks good. Can't even tell it was replaced.

But I am calling Allstate back and demanding it be redone. I just hope replacing it again doesn't cause any problems for things like weather stripping or whatever...

By the way, why are you guys paying for glass? Adding full glass coverage to your insurance is dirt cheap and its a zero deductible. My car itself has a $500 deductible but with glass their is no deductible. Its free.

When dealing with situations like this, I know that I come off as the most **** individual the person on the other end of the phone has ever met. I make them state back to me exactly what I've dictated to them. I they won't play, I hang up the phone and call someone else. I even email them pictures.

You're insurance company won't settle for less than what your policy payment is. If I were you, I wouldn't settle for less than what you're paying for.

OK..the definitive word.....

I went thru SafeLite here in San Diego and had my windshield replaced...they were really helpful..I highlily recomentd them

Heres the deal. They brought out a APTech (OEM Mfg) DW1430 winshield and and an APTech DW1514

Both had the same bugs in the corners, which included the HUD designation, sun shade etc....

The DW1514 cost 900 bucks the DW1430..cost 400 bucks!

Guess which one I went with....

So will p/n APTech DW1430 work on a 01 C5 Coup with HUD?

Thanks!

I had the DW1430 installed on my Z06 - knowing it was not HUD. Be careful as some of the DW1430's apparently were mis-marked DW1514's. If you are a lucky one ( like the poster)- pat yourself on the back.

As for me- I am extremely satisfied with the somewhat more durable non- HUD DW1430. Frankly, I can still read my HUD just great, and barely notice a difference except maybe in extreme sunlight. It is clear and legeable.

Check the "Bug" thats the information shown in the lower passenger side corner.

Again..Only the APTech DW1430's are te sam as the DW1514's

There are other Mfg's of glass that supply DW1430's (its the "block size" of the window, not a part number)..not all DW1430's are HUD rated

Nat..I read your post..when was it that you got your glass replaced?

The impression that I got from the company that supplied my glass was that my DW1430 was indictative of all APTech DW1430's...ie nothing special or mis-marked
