I just had new tires installed on my '99 Vert. Now I feel a vibration in the rear. It's not a constant bounce like you would have from balance issues. It's more like three or four rapid bounces every second or so (maybe quicker). It is very cyclic. The tire guy say's he thinks it could be a shock problem although I didn't have the problem with the old tires... I'm sceptical and think the tire is defective in some way. He said he would take care of it if it turned out to be the tire. However...if I need to replace the shocks what do I need to buy? My car has selective handling (tour, Rally, sport).I called Ecklers and the guy told me I'd have to get the shocks from the stealership. Say it isn't so ! What other options do I have?
If you did not have the problem before I'd say you've got a tire out of radius. There's limits on an out of round tire - checked with a dial indicator. $.02
selective ride control shocks are very expensive...
but you can get them thru www.gmpartshouse.com
i would have the tire re checked first....
that is a lot of money to spend if it is not the shock.
Have the shop that installed them do a hunter Road force balance.
IF they don't have one, pay to get it done somehwere else with the understanding that if it is a tire issue, they cover the cost of the 3rd party balance.
