well only had my vette for like 3 weeks now and just 2 days ago in my driveway I got the dreaded pull key, wait 10 sec, which I did shortly followed by the SCL msg. Funny part was I had a CLB but hadn't had time to install it, the lil part had been sitting on my coffee table for about 1.5 weeks! Anyways, I didn't panic because I read the sticky on here and also searched the forum for solutions for a locked column.
I hopped in my car, slammed the wheel (without the key in) right and left a few times, put the key in and the column was unlocked. Drove to my bud's house and in 30 min we put in the CLB (from Thunder Racing). The colors on the original plug were as stated in Thunder Racing's instructions so I guess my car hadn't had any of the recalls done, good for me!
Just thought I'd share how helpful this forum is, luckily I was at home but in any case I got great info off this forum.
GM Chevy division should be ashamed of themselves for letting this problem go on for so long. It is crap like this that gives american cars a bad name. Glad everything worked out for ya.
After reading this forum the first part I bought for my C5 was the CLB. Only drove it about two weeks w/o it. Glad it worked out for you. This forum rocks.
That's it!!!! Ordering mine today! I don't need it to lock up when i'm in a hurry to be somewhere....how inconvenient regardless. I saw this thread and many more before it and still haven't done mine. Thanks for the shock!!
